Hey guys, this is my long birth story lol!
I started having contractions on the 24th in the night, they were mild, going from 13 mins apart to 20 mins then to over 30 mins, all over the place! So I went to bed like normal, thinking they were bad Braxton hicks, I said that I would see the midwife the following afternoon as it was my due date appointment. I woke when OH went to work and then I couldn’t get back to sleep as the pains started again, so I got up and chilled out, had a bath and stuff before my appointment which was 1.30pm. My mother and auntie were taking me and by 12.00pm I was on the phone to my mother nearly crying in pain asking her to come down asap! The contractions were coming and going but still didn’t have much rhythm. We went to my appointment and as I walked in and looked at my midwife I burst out crying, I was so exhausted from such little sleep the past 2 weeks, she checked me over, said she would examine me and give me a sweep to get things moving. My BP was high but she said it was probs because I was upset. She examined me and said I was 4cm dilated fully effaced and went ahead with the sweep. She said for me to go home and get my things together and head over to the birth centre and that I would have my baby soon by the look of things! .. so I came home, waited for OH to get home and we all went over. I got examined and checked over and they said my BP was too high for their criteria as our local hospitals birth centre is only midwife led and theres no docs (silly I know!) so I had to be transferred to the next hospital which is about 20-30 mins away, which I wernt really happy with as I really wanted to give birth at the centre. We got to the hospital, got put in a ward and waited half hour for someone to come see me, I then got put on a monitor to monitor my contractions and babys HB. I hadn’t eat anything as I felt sick all day so the nurse said I could eat when I got moved. In my birth plan I said I really wanted a water birth, didn’t want to be strapped to a bed and wanted to move around. I then got told I couldn’t eat because I had keatons in my urine and I was dehydrated so had to be put on a drip, then to make things 100% worse, I was told I had to be on the monitor for all my labour as my BP and being dehydrated. But the good news was when I was examined I was 7-8cm with no pain relief :D! .. I then got moved to the labour ward around 9.30pm and started on the gas and air, I took it in and just burst out laughing to my OH, I was soo embarrassed! As labour progressed and the pain got worse I was shouting at the midwife as she left the room and saying some crazy shit! Haha. Around 12.30am I was saying I needed to push, I got examined and told baby was back to back that’s why I felt like I needed to push and I was still 8cm. I was screaming for an epidural as I thought I couldn’t stick this pain for any longer! By the time the anethatist came it was around 12.50am, he was moving me up the bed and I was screaming at him lol. He sprayed my back and got me into position and I had a REALLY big, bad contraction so I was going mad, moving all over the bed! I was screaming “ I NEED TO PUSH! “ they were saying to me, you don’t you’ve just been examined. I had to push, I couldn’t stop! I finally got one of them to examine me and she said it was to late to have the epidural, I was fully dilated and I could push! I was pushing for 13 mins and my amazing son was born at 1.07am on the 26th august 2011, weighing 7lbs 10.5oz. one day over my due date. He is simply amazing and loved him from the moment I seen him.
