Well I already have a ds (18 months) and was pregnant with #2. We were team yellow all the way as we found out the gender with our son so wanted a surprise this time. (I was convinced she was a boy). I got to my due date and had zero signs of labour!(frustrating as ds came on his due date). So as the days passed by I grew more and more impatient. Then finally at 41 weeks I woke up at 9.00am and felt great, ds had just woken up in his bedroom and I could hear him playing, hubby had already gone to work, so I rolled over and felt a warm flow of water on my legs and on the bed (yay my waters had gone) exactly like it did with ds 👍, so I got up out of bed and felt something slide out of my and looked down at my towel and saw my mucus plug 😬, I didn't realise how big they were, it was the size of the Palm of my hand! Got to the toilet and phoned hubby who was only 20 mins away, then phoned mum n dad (they were minding ds for me) within 10 mins mum n dad had arrived and got ds ready and fed, and my contractions were every 10 mins or so but when they were coming I had to gently breathe thru them. Had a shower, and packed the rest of my bag (can't believe I let it to the last minuite)!!!, phoned triage and they said to come in because ds was a quick birth that they would keep an eye on me. (Once I got to 3cm he was born within 3 and a half hrs)! So arrived at hospital, pain still fine,I could still hold a conversation whilst having a contraction, they assessed me at 12.30pm and said I was 2cm, but said they had looked at my pad and it had meconum in it so I would need to stay on the labour ward and give birth on dry land! I had wanted a water birth like last time but my main concern was if my baby would be ok. So they strapped me up to the monitor and got the baby's heartbeat but it kept moving so they decided to put a clip on the babies head, so they did that and it got to about 2.30pm of me labouring with my legs off the side of the bed and the contractions were getting more and more intense so I asked for some gas and air, (amazing stuff) which seamed to take the edge off, that and also pushing my foot against hubby's knee cap 😂🙈😊, seamed to help, then I looked at the clock and it was 3.55pm and I started to bear down and have the feeling to push so I climbed onto the bed and knelt up and put my arms over the back of the bed. Hubby stayed at the head end as he's a bit squeamish, I was squeezing his hand and gripping onto my gas and air like my life depended on it 😂, I could feel the baby coming down my birth canal and with the first couple of pushes I could feel her slide back inside too (really weird feeling, then I gave one last push and the midwife told me to pant and do little gentle pushes and the baby's head was born, I felt the stretching feeling this time but not the burning like last time. Then she said give me one last big push which I did and out popped her shoulders, she was back to back but tried turning in labour, her head came out fine but her shoulders didn't have time to turn so they came out sideways 😂, didn't make pushing any harder tho. She was born at 4.24pm. She plopped onto the bed and I was still on my knees at this point so I'm trying to turn around to see what we had but her thigh was in the way, then I turned to hubby and he said we have a GIRL 😬👍😊, soooo happy, she is soooo beautiful but I remember thinking she looked massive lol, she got taken to the resus table just to have some oxygen and to be checked over (because of the meconum) and she was fine, she hadn't swallowed any of it luckily. I got to hold her then and fell in love instantly. I only had a 2cm tear on my perinium so I got stitched up whilst holding her then hubby did some skin to skin too. Eventually 2 hours later the midwife said I'll weigh her before she has a feed, popped her on the scales and my big chunky monkey weighed 10lb 4oz!!!!!!!! I was in shock, yeah my bump was bigger than last time and I knew she looked a bit bigger than her brother did (he was only 7lb 9oz) but never guessed a 10lb 4oz baby. Wow, even the midwife thought she would only be 8-9lb so was shocked too. She is now 10 weeks old and weighed 14lb 😂🙈😊, her big brother adores her and can't stop saying her name and "playing" cars with her 😬xxxx
Thanks for reading xxxxx

Lovely story, congrats on your little (well big! Lol!) pink bundle!

Aw thanks everybody, it seriously didn't feel any different to birthing her 7lb 9oz big brother 😬, love both my babies sooo much, can't wait until we start ttc #3 😍xxx

Congrats. You are super woman! A 10 lb baby with only gas and air!

wow 10lb congrats you did so well back to back and only gas and air well done you x

Aw thankyou, I felt so proud of myself after I had had her 😬, can't quite believe I did it just with gas and air either lol, they even took it off me when I was just starting to push too so didn't have anything for the pushing part! I think they were concerned I may not be able to push as hard to get her out whilst on the g&a but all was fine x

Congratulations hun :flower: What a fab birth story, and agree with others, hats off to you for birthing a 10lb back to back baby on gas and air! x
