Hi ladies!!
Can you believe it, my baby boy has arrived & a day early :0)
We had planned a home birth & got it too , its been the most relaxing first few days as a family together , I fully recommend a home birth, its been amazing!!
My waters broke at 6.50 on Friday morning with literally a "pop" noise & a gush in bed!! I immediately rang my OH who had only lefft for work ten mins earlier - his phone rang in the bathroom!!!!!!! noooooo! of all days he'd forgotten his phone!!! He' a chippy & works all over London but thankfully Id be listening to him moan about work the few days previous ;0) so remembered who he was working for & rang them to tell him as soon as he'd made the hour trip to london, he was to turn round & come straight back again!! Silly man!!!
In the meantime I started timing my contractions...they were immediately only a few mins apart..i thought perhaps id been timing them wrong?? anyway i txt my mw explaining, she said she'd pop in to measure my blood pressure etc on way to work ao at about 9am ish!....at 9am both her & my OH arrived at the same time...my contractions were painful at this point & i hadnt been able to get my TENS machine to work unfortunately so was a bit frantic to say the least!! The mw checked me over & was shocked to find i was already 7cm dilated!!!! wowza!!! The mw wasnt going anywhere!!!
She got my TENS machine working for me which I have to say did work for me to a point through my contractions... I tried gas & air but this made me feel dizzy so after a couple of contractions I gave up with it & just went with my body..
By 10am I needed to push, I was on a birthing stool in the bathroom, with my OH on the toilet behind me while i pushed on his knees...he was brilliant taking my orders whenever i needed some of my drink etc etc!!
I dont remember the pain at this point...honestly, the feeling of my whole body "seizing up" & preparing to push took over absolutely any other feeling...I was doing this alone, without pain relief....crazy!!
At 10.27 Harry arrived in this world at 8lb 4oz :0) My OH filmed the whole think..it makes me cry now looking at those 4 precious minutes he captured on film....just spectacular.....xxx
By 12.30 Id showered, felt surprisingly "normal"..the mw's had left.... & my OH & I were sat on the sofa with little Harry between us snoring eating our lunch!! It was soooo surreal!!!!! What a crazy few hours it had been!!
As for the following few days..they couldnt have been more relaxing & perfect...its a bit painful sitting down as had to hv stitches... & we struggled to get Harry to latch on to my breast for a few days but with my fabulous mw popping in twice a day to assist we've eventually got there!!
I just love my little man soooooooooooooo much.... I never thought that this utter feeling of love, protection & devotion would flood my body & heart in quite the way it did... we stare at him every day blessed..we feel so lucky to have this healthy, happy little man when so many people around us have had sad instead of happy endngs :0( xxxxx
Good luck to all you ladies you there!! Enjoy your births & your lives as families :0)
