and of course it.s a sleepless one. i've tried wrapping Her, she hasn't soiled since earlier now she's laying on my chest. how do i sleep like that?

I noticed in the hospital they elevate LOs head. They always had the basinet on an incline. Is she crying alot? Pulling her legs up or making mouth motions? Are you breastfeeding?

I had a mountain of pillows, even rolled up some sheets and stuffed a pillowcase full for extra firmness.. Still ended up sliding down, and I had a c-section cut, so that was noooo good. Do you have a plush chair to nap in?

The first couple of nights my LO slept on me, I just got used to it. Every once in a while he still wants to sleep on me. I did sleep although I also put him on a pillow and slept with him on a pillow next to me. I was so scared of rolling on to him or him ending up in some weird position the pillow seemed to stop that.

i am breastfeeding. maybe i could try placing a pillow slightly under the bassenet

When we first brought DD home she sometimes only slept while on my chest too. I propped myself up in bed, put pillows on either side to prop my arms up to "cradle" her and also put her boppy pillow in the "u" shape underneath her, so it cadled around her, and kept her from sliding down, but at the same time it wasnt near her face. I didnt sleep soundly as she was on my mind, but I was able to rest, close my eyes which helped a lot. We also tried putting a book under th head of the mattress, which seemed to help.

Sometimes sleeping with lo on your chest is the only way to get a tiny bit of precious sleep. It is ok and I think loads of mums do it. Your instincts will keep you aware of lo when you are asleep so nothing to worry about.

how old is your LO? my milk didn't even start until day 5. Has yours come in ? I hope tonight goes better!

I was so nervous with LO sleeping on me! What helped was making sure I was comfy, too. So covered in blankets to keep me warm and the room had to be dark and quiet. Our LO actually slept swaddled in her swing for the 1st week. She seemed to enjoy the motion. We also kept a hat on her for 3 weeks.

Sally speant 2 hours on my chest last night and she's 2.5 weeks old. Helen slept like that for about the 1st month. I just prop myself up on pillows. I don't worry nearly as much with Sally as I did with Helen - I trust myself not to move or drop her this time. I do sleep but I'm very aware of her at the same time.:hugs: It does get better.

she's almost four day.s and i have to supplement because my milk hasn't come and she passed the ten percent mark. so tonight is the first nite trying that. she seems to be sleeping a little better

i've noticed she feeds back to back. the first time i'll wake her up. she'll feed and look around almost two hours later she's fussy and eats again then she sleeps. i'm even able to place her in her bedside bassenet :) :happydance:

That is great! I was thinking she was probably hungry. My LO lost 15% a pound in the first 36 hours & had jaundice. We had to supplement him too. I was a little upset that the hospital staff is not allowed to suggest formula. I get they are encouraging BM but he was showing signs much sooner. After his circ he was so drowsy he couldn't keep up with what his body needed to feed fast enough. Had someone suggested that he would feel better if I supplemented I would have gladly until my milk came in. I decided to do it on my own, and the nurse was so relieved but said they are not allowed to suggest it! I think having the LO literally starve is way worse than suggesting a supplement for a day or 2.

Make sure you are nursing & supplementing every 2 hours around the clock, even if he is t waking atleast until he has gone over his birth weight. I was able to stop with the formula about 2 days after my milk came in. Good luck and I am glad things are better!

have you tried swaddling her and putting a hot water bottle in her bed before placing her down. she is lovely and warm in your arms then put into a cold basket. I found it helped for me x

I've noticed she Likes to swaddle when she's sleeping so i wrap her after she eats. if she's wrapped before then she falls asleep lol!
