Dear breast feeding mummies...

There was a discussion in the second and third tri about bfing in public to which I said its something I'm not comfortable doing and with the facilities available in Australia that I wouldn't need to bf in public (not judging anyone else I personally was just not comfy doing it in public)

Well I apologise and retract my statement!

How naive I was to think that babies would be happy to wait til u got to a bfing room or that a newborn would have a routine enough for me to know when he was hungry or that I could just express and give him a bottle whenever I was out in public.

Throw that to the wall!!!!
I feed my baby when he's hungry and I don't reli give a crap where I am! I cover over with a muslin or one of my loose cardis and we bf... Ifu don't like it don't look!

I am so sorry to all the bf mummies and I commend all of u for being proud mummies who feed their bubbies when they want and need it!

After all why should u not have a life and not go out coz ur bub feeds that way!

Yours sincerely
Iwantabub :)

I am one of those women that couldnt give a toss what people think in regards to bf. I am pleased your so comfortable with it too as i have heard many women on here confined to a house as they are too scared to NIP. Its an amazing experience and i welcome any funny looks so i can tell them where to go and stick up for what i believe in.

Ive been feeding whever my baby needed food for 7 months. I did initially think I probably wouldnt NIP, but its tpoo hard not to and still be able to do anything! I dont think Ive ever seen a horrified or shocked look in our direction in all that time. once you get the hang of BFing its so easy to not have to worry - you have food and all the equipment needed (without sterilizing and measuring etc) and its always the prefect temperature.
My little girl eats whenever she needs to. this is sad story - but I lost my dad in March, and my baby girl was shuffling and starting to become a bit fretful, so she had her milky lunch during the funeral service. no one even noticed except my husband - if I didnt do that she would have been crying and upset

I for one had a lot of opinions before my daughter was born, and before she grew up. Her whole little (only 5 years of) life I had these crazy opinions on how everyone should be. That soon changes when reality hits you in the face lol

Good for you! I'm glad you're feeli more comfortable bfing in public. It took me a long time to feel comfortable and I wish I'd had the balls to do it before, no one has ever stared or commented (I don't think they even realise I'm doing it!)

My ohs work mates said they would feel uncomfortable if I fed in front of them but when I asked them would they rather a screaming baby or me feeding her with approriate blankets covering her, they all changed their minds!

I think a lot of it is people being naive (myself included) before they're in the same situation
Xx

Good for you! With DD1 I did feel a little awkward. I hated the first few weeks when bombarded with friends and family and everyone would stare at me while I was attempting to discreetly latch! Second time round I literally don't care! The boob comes out wherever I am if DD2 needs a feed!

Í could have written this post!! I now bf everywhere if LO is hungry. It's amazing how much your opinions change when you have a baby...

Well done on over coming your own personal fears (if that's the right word?!) and now being happy to nip!! How wonderful for you and your LO!

I'm also one of those people who will feed anywhere, anytime, with anyone. My most recent bf conquest is in church! Helps that my LO is a champion boob monster!!!
