My hair is naturally dark, dark brunette. Almost black.

I didn't dye my hair growing up but about a year ago I've had it highlighted to a honey/light brunette twice. It's nice but I've grown tired of it, especially when it grows out, and I don't think DH likes it very much either.

A lot of my friends and my hair dresser have suggested maybe a red highlight similar to this but I actually am not sure if I could even pull it off.

I'm pretty torn about what I'd like to do but I definitely want to take care of it. I'm struggling between touching up my highlights, trying out the red or just dyeing it back to my natural hair color. I am 6 months pregnant so I'm strongly leaning towards just natural as I barely have enough time to upkeep it now let alone with a newborn!

Thoughts? :flower:

I'd go back natural. I used to dye my hair blonde but when we decided to have a baby I decided to stop as I knew I wouldn't have time or money when he arrived and I was right. I've been to the hairdressers 2\3 times in the last 14 months.

I love that red! I think it'd look gorgeous on you!

I agree I think it would look lush. I like your hair dark, but the red seems perfect

I think your natural colour really suits you x x x

I like dark. The red is nice but I don't know whether the extra effort and expense would be worth it when I think your natural colour is nice anyway.

I don't think it looks stupid. Why don't you get a few highlights painted in at the root to just blend it in. You can get less n less done to gradually fade out.
Or grab a brown dye and put it on starting at the lightest bits and leave then 10 mins before apply to your natural hair so it develops more where you need it.
Xx

Reds fade pretty quickly so you may find its high maintence, it's better as an all over colour not Hilites as it may look whisywashy as it fades.

I like the first and third pik tho xx

I'm normally not a huge fan of obvious highlights but those red ones are actually really pretty. That said, I love your natural dark color! It looks lovely on you. My thought might be to try out going back to natural for a while and then see if you need a change later, post-baby.

I would go back to natural. I used to dye my hair black, and went with highlights for a while too. I have naturally dark brown hair and dyed it dark brown one time and I haven't dyed it since (it's been 3 years). :)

The red highlights do look nice though!

Red is high maintenance and it is really hard to get rid of when you want it out!
I love your natural colour :) x
