Now I'm finally relaxing in the bath I thought I would write my birth story!

I had pre eclampsia with my daughter and was induced at 38 + 5 and Had a 9 day hospital stay after.

This time my blood pressure stayed stable with a small amount of labetalol. I was having to have regular growth scans as they thought baby was small he never went above the 25th percentile. On the 28th May I had my midwife appointment, I did my BP at home as I always do as I have white coat syndrome and it was reading high at 153/106. Went to midwife who I told straight away and she confirmed it was high so rang labour ward who wanted to me to go there.

So off I trundle to labour ward my mum drops me off who is up for the week from Kent lucky enough hubby was still at work told him to stay put until they decided what they were doing. Went in and was put on blood pressure machine and trace of the baby who was doing well blood pressure even higher than before.

Finally the consultant came round around 8pm and I was told they were going to induce me tonight as there is no reason to keep me pregnant any longer. Hubby came in once I told him and brought my bags.
About 10pm I had an internal was 2cm and had a good stretch and sweep and left for half an hour before she came back with a small amount of cervidil to ripen my cervix enough to break my waters. I was put on the ctg for half an hour then told my next exam would be at 2am I sent hubby home to sleep but he was back by half one and I was contracting so called the midwife who was also meant to give me my next dose of BP meds but had forgotten. When she came in she said they wouldn't be able to continue with the induction as they has no more midwives. Hmm bit late as I was already in labour. They managed to get a midwife from the ward to come up I also had to have a cannula fitted to have some BP meds intravenous as it wouldn't drop with tablets. At about half 3 I had my waters broken and was 4cm. I was then left for a while and had some gas and air as contractions were getting strong I loved the stuff and all I wanted was sweet and sour chicken as I could smell it though I had no idea how. The midwife checked me at 5 and I was still 4cm and I felt like I was loosing the plot the contractions were so close together and soo painful! I asked for some pethidine it was about quater to 6 by the time I had the pethidine it was great I still needed gas and air to get through the contractions but fully relaxed after. About twenty to 7 I needed to push and my body took over and was pushing whilst the midwife was rushing round trying to get everything together. I got up on my hands and knees and pushed for my life, oscar was born in 4 contractions. I cried my eyes out as well as hubby I was so amazed I had done it! We waited for the cord to stop pulsating and hubby cut it. Labour was recorded at 2 hours 49 mins and 4 mins of pushing, and no stitches!

After an hour skin to skin oscar was weighted and was 8lb so not small at all! I Was up and showered shortly after then transferred to the ward.

Now the not so nice part. 5 hours alter having him my daughter and hubby had just left and I was up to change oscars nappy when I thought I had wet myself then I noticed it was blood down my legs and it wasn't stopping. Within minutes my cubicle was filled with consultants massaging my tummy and removing clots fitting iv's and taking my BP. They luckily managed to stop the bleeding but I had lost alot so was taken up to the labour ward for constant observations.

I went home the next day around 5 and now have caught my daughters cold but we're both doing well.

If you got to the end well done! Sorry it's so long! X

Congratulations
