Not sure how long I'll keep this up, but thought it would be interesting to do a play-by-play of my induction!

Only slept an hour in anticipation of baby day. plus all 3 kids managed to find their way into our bed last night.

Got to the hospital a little late thanks to a fun snow storm, but was quickly admitted.

IV was put in without too much hassle, and they started monitoring the baby.

My nurse completely rocks. it is amazing how much more personal and intimate things seem this time around. I'm usually arriving in a flurry of activity in the middle of transition labor, so being totally relaxed and pretty much pain free has given me a different perspective. Did I mention my nurse rocks? she brought me a breakfast tray so I could chow down before labor really kicks in!

They started the pitocin drip, and it was probably just mental but I swear I immediately had 2 productive contractions. doc arrived, and I am at 4 and some change, but still pretty high up. he playfully requested that I not be ready to push at noon due to a scheduled c section. I offered 90 minutes from now. really enjoying myself so far!

So far so good! Managed a trip to the bathroom and nearly tied myself up with wires. Tad bit annoying. Starting to feel the contractions but so far nothing I would rush to the hospital for If I wasn't already here.

Dh went on another coffee run after having a 45 minute nap. He felt so bad for falling asleep but I thought it was cute and honestly glad for him to get as much rest as possible. I really lean on him to take care of everything while I focus on the baby so I am hoping he doesn't end up exhausted.

I am going to be watching for more updates!! 4cm already?? Wow this could be really fast then….

I am hoping it is fast, but these early stages are so confusing to me! I've had stronger contractions at home. Just hit a 10 on the Pitocin. Don't really know what that means, but apparently they only bump it up by 1s from now on instead of 2s.

At some point I'm going to walk around but trying to figure out the logistics of getting a robe on.

I am getting grumpy which I'm sure is a good sign. I'm having decent contractions but because of all these stupid wires and iv I am not very mobile. This makes my back sore. I'm not happy about it. I'm feeling hungry. I had kinda assumed they turned the drip off once labor was established and then I'd do my thing with the tub and walking and stuff. But they don't typically do that in order to make sure labor doesn't stall. I get checked again in half an hour and if I have progressed I am tempted to become a non compliant patient. Also getting a better understanding of how nice it has been to labor at home.

:hi: so exciting!!!! cant wait to hear an update. I think it will be quick too <3

hang in there mama!!! get grumpy if you need to. you have a lot of work to do today. do it however you feel :hugs:

So frustrating! I know how to manage my contractions just fine but these stupid cords and monitors are preventing me. I bet more women would be fine with induction if they could be more free. I'm totally regretting my decision for induction at this point even though the contractions aren't any worse but because of the stupid monitor. Totally lame

Feeling less growly after walking my room. Plus have a ball now to bounce on which I think I'll try will tell my OB I either want 30 minutes in Bath or warm shower before/after he tries rupturing membranes. I think I just need to relax and I'll be good to go.

Yes induction really does make things difficult. I too hate being hooked up. Can you ask them to take off the belts so you can get up and walk around a bit??

Please contractions are 4 minutes apart and just starting get to be an intensity that would make me consider coming in.

Good luck hun! Hope won't be long now, and I agree induction would be much better if they started things off then let you to labour in water or being mobile or whatever suits best. being stuck to a monitor sucks xxx

Well I am still at 4! But lower and softening. Membranes ruptured. Contractions actually getting my attention now. But I am having one as I type so not full force yet. Didn't get a soak so I imagined it instead and that helped. With #2 I was ruptured too and it was 5 hours after That she was born so I dunno what to Think this Time.

I do however need to poo and haven't been able to today. So I'm totally going to make a mess during delivery!

Definitely the worst part of induction, the monitors! Hang in there Mel!

Contractions progressed nicely in intensity and frequency from 3 to 5pm. But they were just thinning the cervix and not dilatin. Dh put on the hypnobirth music and I switched from the ignore them phase to the embrace them phase of pain management. I started on the birthing ball and I mentioned how I used the stairs at home and the nurse dropped the bottom of the bed so I could do it here. Was Awesome! Also needed to get the lo in the right position because had wiggled sideways and was threatening back to back. By 5 I was leaning heavily on Dh and moaning through things.

Was rechecked at 5pm and got discouraged. Dh had a ton of messages asking where the baby was and I was at 6cm. I leaned more heavily on Dh and mentally ordered my contractions to dilate my cervix.

At this point the nurse asked if the contractions were finally at the point where I would have come to the hospital if I'd been at home and I was all yes! She didn't leave the room from that point so she could watch for changes in my demeanor and make sure the doctor got here in time.
