it must be very scary for you, but he will be in the very best hands. Surgeons do this everyday, they are very skilled thinking of your family and wishing your little soldier a very speedy recovery xxxx
Thank you all so much for your kind words. We have just arrived home - been another long day of travelling.
There are some helpful comments on here which I will pay more attention to in the morning. For now we need to sleep.
Poor Mr Windswept is in a much worse state than me, he couldn't make it to the hospital so felt very helpless being so far away...
I keep looking at my perfectly beautiful baby and wondering if they've just got it wrong... He was so good for me in the accommodation and on the journey - a perfect little angel!
I'm a fellow heart mummy. My LO has an ASD and a PDA and is being monitored regularly for it. She also had to have major surgery last January for a separate condition (it was a neurological / craniofacial condition, not related to the heart) so i totally understand how you are feeling right now.
You will be amazed at how resilient your little man is and also how strong you are. Within 24 hrs of major surgery, my Rebecca wanted to be walked around the ward - her eyes had swollen shut but she still wanted to be on the move. Within a week, she had bounced back and was fully on the road to recovery. 6 months on and you'd never know she'd had surgery. it's incredible. I look back and struggle to remember what it was really like. We've got more battles to face but I know we will get there - and so will you.
You will get through it and there will be days when it's hard. I've found the online community to be fantastic - there are lots of people out there who will be in a very similar position and can help you.
One day, you'll look at your perfect little boy and all this will be a distant memory. What the surgeons can do is incredible and your gorgeous chap will be just fine.
