so my baby boy was born june 14th, at 10.25 pm weighing 6lbs 3ozs
i shall try not waffle in this story
but it is a long story and bit upsetting in parts
on wednesday i had a routine clinic and was 2 days away from being term, my feet had been swollen bad for a week now, but i had gone to the doctor two days before hand - no problems other than swelling, so thought nothing of it, wed morning i felt totally not with it every time people spoke to me it was like it took longer for me to realise what people were saying, i waited the usual 2 hours before being seen, my blood pressure was through the roof, protein in my urine and i had terrible headache/dizzyness that morning, the midwife grabbed my arm and sat me outside the docs office and got him to see me right away (usually its another 2 hour wait)
he looked at my chart called us in and said so baby is got to come out now we think u have pre eclampsia
this was at 12.30 by this stage and he was telling me induction would begin at 4pm
they brought me upstairs in the pregnancy ward to get gel inserted my god it hurts like hell!!
6 hours later i was checked no difference so another gel was given at 10 hurt even more, then thurs morning i was sent to the induction room where i was given a third set of gels and my waters broken
i was then wheeled to the labour ward, given an epidural because i had to stay lying on a bed not allowed to walk about due to high bp i had to be monitored, im sorry i cant remember what time things happened i was in way too much pain and just so much happening i wasnt dilating for ages it took me 4 hours to get to 3 cm.. hour and a half later i was 10!
the midwife said we should wait another hour before pushing to make sure your cervix is def soft, but after 40 mins my little man did not wanna wait
so i tell the midwife i can feel him there i need to push so we start the process and shes telling me when to push and when not to push totally pissing me off cuz i can feel when the contractions were coming and it wasnt when the machine said after 35 mins of pushing she was like ok this isnt working ur gonna need the forcepts so while she is busy on the phone and getting things in place for the forcepts to be used i listened to my own body pushed when i needed to and didnt push when there was no contraction,
he was out in 10 mins much to the midwifes surprise, my oh was great he encouraged me through the whole thing my hero
but because they had left me so long with high blood pressure ( they should of just sectioned me ) jamie got mega stressed during the birth and when he came out he wasnt breathing and was in shock
took them 10 mins to get him to cry a little cry, they rushed him to the neo natal ward
i was left with the midwife and oh crying but they were all reassuring me he was fine just wanted to make sure..
it was 2 hours before i got wheeled in to see him, he was hooked up to this machine and i was told his brain was very stressed and this blood results showed he was stressed so to be on the safe side they put him on a colling blanket which cools down his brain and gives it chance to slow down enough to heal, this process took 3 days in that time we couldnt hold him, feed him he also had 2 seizures the first night but he was given some meds and after 3 days on the cooling blanket no more and he seems way more alert and seems to of worked, he is still in neo natal now but is doing good first feed today! first cuddles were yesterday and it was the best feeling ever , he has a mri today to just make sure no more brain damage was done, if no more problems and his scan is ok jamie will be home before the weekend
