My second baby girl came at 40 weeks 4 days..... We were shocked as our first was 10 days early! I was settling in for a night of tv and bad food when my sick toddler woke shortly after going to bed.... I figured is head on up for some snuggles. Opened the door, heard a pop and my waters went. Knowing I have babies fast I knew these moments as a family of 3 were going to quickly end, so I went to get a towel to sit on to rock my toddler asleep when my waters started gushing and intense contraction hit. Decided to call down for hubby to take over. Kissed my daughter and called my sis, then hospital to say I was on route. There was no wasting time, I didn't officially time them but the contractions were 2-3 mins apart and painful. Hubby finally got sick toddler back to sleep, my sister had arrived so off we went. When we arrived the nurse was going to start the admission questions but I told her I have babies fast and felt building pressure - checked me immediately, 7 cm.
I labored longer than I ever would have if she weren't persistant posterior, but a crazy fast labor and against all literature for delivering a posterior baby! Basically once I was 10 cm is when the doc told me she was posterior, or sunny side up..... He was calm and went on to say it just meant I had to work a little harder.
Took 45 mins of pushing, and 2 h and 50 mins from start if labor ( water breaking),of that only 2 h after arriving in hospital, I successfully, naturally, zero pain meds, delivered my second beautiful baby girl, 8 pounds 12 ounces, 22 1/4 inches long, and yes, sunny side up. After the ring of fire I looked down and saw her head sticking out staring at the world..... And thought to myself " the head is out, my work here is done."
That moment they handed her to me, most smazing feeling, so awsome I even said id like a third baby!
Unfortunatly i immediately began to hemmhorage, gushing blood everywhere. The room filled with ppl but everyone was calm. I was still holding my baby while they were investigating source of bleed. Just before ( an hour after birth) they were gonna bring me into operating room my bleeding slowed..... Thank goodness. They figure my uterus just didn't clamp down after placenta came out. Very very scary.
But we are all well. I escaped with two small first degree tears.
For those who don't know, 15-30% of babies begin labor in posterior position, if those only 5.5% are actually born posterior as rest do turn before birth. It is a larger part if baby to pass through birth canal and often these babies require intervention, esp episiotomies and often c sections to avoid terrible 3 and 4 th degree tears. Back labor is also common.... I did not have. I did ask my nurse multiple times if she was coming outta my butt, the pressure was insane! But I saw Chiro regularly in pregnancy and knew I would have a great birth.
2 weeks since birth and we are adjusting to life as 4. This pregnsncy was very hard but my labor and delivery were great.... We would like to grow our family more again.
Babies r a blessing. We are so blessed.
