Just a little brag :)

Since my LO was 1 month old, we've been forced to combi feed. His milk is designed for preemies... and the pediatrician wants him to drink 2oz after every feed, night and day, so 16oz+.
Now I understand that for some families combi feeding is great, but for us it only created worse problems. In the week after bottles were introduced LO stopped wanting to nurse.
I saw a doctor specialised in breastfeeding and she helped us save my milk supply and get baby to accept the boob. That was a success! The next step was to reduce the milk intake, but my OH was not on board with that idea, saying LO needed the formula because he's underweight.
While it's true that I've got a tiny baby (he's below the damned weight curb) he was gaining between 1.5 and 2 lbs a month, which is what is expected from a breastfed baby.

FINALLY, managed to reduce the bottles to 3 / day, for a total of 12oz or less, and the night feeds are all breast milk.
And you know what? LO gained more weight in those 3 weeks with less formula, more bm, than he did in the two months prior. He's now in the 1st percentile!

So I've proven to OH and the pediatrician that no, LO doesn't need his milk to be mainly formula... took 3 months to get there and I'm so glad I persevered!

(Sorry if I'm rambling, lack of sleep due to teething is frying my brain)

That is fab news :D

Just goes to show that mummy instinct knows best. Well done xx

Well done! That's especially impressive in my opinion because your OH wasn't on board. I always thought the biggest factor in BF success was good support, but you've shown that determination is what you need! Good on you. :)

That's great! Well done on persevering :)

That's fantastic news!! Massive well done to you for persevering, especially when your DH and doctor weren't on board. :D

Thanks :)
I'm a stubborn person, I'm used to people telling me to let go of things, so it's nice when I prove them I was right to hold onto what I believe is the right thing to do. I've explained to OH that giving LO less formula encouraged him to drink more breast milk, which is better assimilated by the human body, and that why his weight gain is more satisfying. I see nothing wrong with families who decide to formula feed, but that wasn't what I wanted so it's awesome that things are going the way I wanted them to!

Btw, OH has always been supportive of breastfeeding - in theories. But we weren't raised the same way, and questioning doctor's opinion doesn't come naturally to him. He's totally convinced now! And I think it's good enough that he has always been supportive of cosleeping, as I'm sure that's the main thing that gave me the strenght to continue despite the problems.
