Just a little brag
Since my LO was 1 month old, we've been forced to combi feed. His milk is designed for preemies... and the pediatrician wants him to drink 2oz after every feed, night and day, so 16oz+.
Now I understand that for some families combi feeding is great, but for us it only created worse problems. In the week after bottles were introduced LO stopped wanting to nurse.
I saw a doctor specialised in breastfeeding and she helped us save my milk supply and get baby to accept the boob. That was a success! The next step was to reduce the milk intake, but my OH was not on board with that idea, saying LO needed the formula because he's underweight.
While it's true that I've got a tiny baby (he's below the damned weight curb) he was gaining between 1.5 and 2 lbs a month, which is what is expected from a breastfed baby.
FINALLY, managed to reduce the bottles to 3 / day, for a total of 12oz or less, and the night feeds are all breast milk.
And you know what? LO gained more weight in those 3 weeks with less formula, more bm, than he did in the two months prior. He's now in the 1st percentile!
So I've proven to OH and the pediatrician that no, LO doesn't need his milk to be mainly formula... took 3 months to get there and I'm so glad I persevered!
(Sorry if I'm rambling, lack of sleep due to teething is frying my brain)
