My due date came with no signs of labour at all except for my mucus plug no longer being in tact. I went in for a stretch and sweep. Three days later i was woken at 10am with mild pains that were lasting 30 seconds and coming every 6 minutes. I holded on till about 12 when i rang the hospital, they told me just to keep active and that i was in early labour. At 10pm sunday night the pain became worse and i rang the hospital and went in (making sure me and fella picked up my mum before!) we got in, got checked out and found out i was only 2cm's dilated! Which is what i was on my stretch and sweep! All that 12 hours of pain for nothing! I was given codine and advised to go home. Me and fella dropped my mum off and told her we would ring her if my waters broke as she had work in the morning! We got home and put on a film, by now the pain was really hurting me, it got to about 3am and i rang up again, and we were sent in.. got checked again after waiting a good hour! & i was 4cm's so the midwife said i can have gas and air! Woohoo! used that, and had a jab of pethidine, after going loopy on the gas and air, time seemed to fly, i was checked at about 9am and was 7cm's dilated.. i got told to go onto the birthing ball to help things move along faster.. my waters broke instantly and i cried for a epidural, they started it off but had to wait over an hour for the lady, before i knew it it got to 11:10am and the midwife said i was ready to push, started pushing and alfie james white-reading was born at 11:20am on the 1st october!
