Nails, Help!? probably a very daft question!

So, my wedding is in 3 weeks and I'm just finalising plans now (yes we are unprepared and kinda winging it lol) anyway. I'm planning on having my nails done professionally since I haven't been able to grow a nail since becoming a mum 2 years ago!

I've never had my nails done before. Ever. Always thought about it, but never got around to it. And now I have to decide if I want acrylic french or gel French, and havent the slightest clue what the difference is.

Can someone explain for me? Or even better, show me pictures to compare?
Which will look nicer? Does one look less fake than the other?

Should I go have some done now to see if I like the result and then just have them fixed up for the wedding?

I have no idea! Please help!

Both types of nails look great when a professional job has been done. I personally prefer gel nails as they look better and last longer.
