Name help

I guess this poll shows why Isabella is predicted to be this year's number 2 name!! I think because it is so popular, we are probably going to knock it off our list... but then she may come out looking like one!

2nd = Matilda, 3rd = Beatrice, 4th = Francesca, joint 5th = Bronwen and Seren and down there in 6th place is poor old Mabel. LOL.

Interesting stuff.

Bronwen is pretty, but my favourites are Isabella (though you might be right about it being really popular), Seren and Francesca.

I think we have settled on Bronwen. Bronwyn is a male name in Welsh, so she is definitely going to be Bronwen. :)

I love the name Mabel but I'm biased because that is my mother's name lol And then Isabella because that was my great grandmother's name. Matter of fact, her name was Isabell Elizabeth so imma say isabell for sure lol

Aren't Isobel and Elizabeth different forms of each other? When I was pregnant with Joseph Isobel was on our list until a baby name site said it was the Spanish form of Elizabeth and we decided against it for that reason, I was a bit paranoid that the baby would think we had chosen it for that reason.

Yes they are - variations of Isobel/Isabella/Isabel etc, are Elizabeth in another form/language. Isabella is Spanish for Elizabeth which is why I initially agreed to my husband's first choice of Isabella (but she would then obviously not have Elizabeth as a middle name). It's just far too popular though, now. You only have to look at the results of this poll to see that as well! Isabella is way in front!

Well we called her Isabella! But I don't think I've been back to this thread since before I had her, and at that stage I was so set on not calling her Isabella!!!! I haven't come across a single other child called Isabella of her age in this area so far. And her name suits her perfectly. :)

If we have a girl next time, I am going to be choosing the name and she will be called Beatrice (or possibly Bronwen but I don't think I could name another child that, given that Isabella was Bronwen for 1/3 of my pregnancy :( ).

I love Beatrice and Francesca! :)

Ceridwen would also be a lovely name you could suggest, with Carrie as a nickname?

Francesca is my overall favourite. I agree with you chopping Isabella off your list due to its extreme popularity, although it does have a lovely sound, I'd hate for my child to be Isabella E.
