This might help with some of the decision making!!! Whether or not it's to be believed it is an other matter. My sis is training to be a teacher and has spent alot of time in classrooms so I would be interested in hearing what she or indeed other teachers on here think!

Emma x

3rd brightest girl name and top most popular girls name!! :thumbup:lol!!!

This is quite funny.

I have a couple of friends who are teachers and they do say that some people have naughty sounding names, but they include how it sounds with the last name in that as well.

Wonder if it's a coincidence that Jack has been the most popular boy's name for the past 10 years and it's way up there on the list?

Oooooh interesting

I love the name Liam...but the reason I'm put off it because it always reminds me of a naughty boy...and Liam is in the naughty boy list!! Hehe!!

I do wonder where they come up with these things though!! xx

Ah this is silly lol, I am a teacher and there are no naughty names or good names, I mean for every kid you could say was naughty there is a well behaved kid with that name too. What you do get is stigmas in your mind if you had a naughty kid in your class with a specific name and then the next year you teach a class with a kid named that you kind of expect them to be the same but they are not always.

hahaha this might have a ring of truth my eldest is called brandon and is a little monster at school yet my other 2 older boys whose names are not on the list are good

ye alice is a bright name! lol well shes alys but its all the same!! lol!!!!
and sophie is a bright name!!

xxx

Just a thought....

It would appear that the older more traditional names seem to feature more in the brighter scales, and the more modern 'unusual' names feature more in the naughty corner?

Is it just me or does this appear to be a pattern?

I was pleased to see Elisabeth's name at the top of the brightest girls list. I always picture her as a teenager getting ready to leave home for university and this list has backed that up.

I don't think anyone should take it too seriously but it was amusing and interesting to read. Has anyone read the Freakonomics book that talks about names and the way people are perceived by them? That's really interesting but it makes a lot of sense if you think about it.

I'm not really surprised by many of the names on the list to be honest. Obviously with the common names (I mean frequently used before someone gets upset) like Jack, Jessica and Daniel etc there are bound to be 'naughty' ones with that name and that will stick in teachers minds.

My friend has got 4 kids, their names Jack, Demi, Courtney and Emily, God help their teachers :haha::haha::haha:

V xxx

The real issue seems to be giving your child a name with 'C' in it...

Im syrprised holly isnt on the naughty list as she is a little sod

altho she is the most popular in her class and everyone in school talks to her x

i no a jack, connor and courtney and they are little sods xxx

I thought this too.

It doesn't take a genius to work out what kind of parent calls their kid Chardonnay.

I saw this and was very suprised to see Brooke was 8th naughtiest for girls ... Brooke isnt even that popular of a name

 I'm number 7. In the naughty list! To be honest I was a little shit in school though...

It isn't the names that are the problem really, its chavs!

I agree with what the first comment on that page too, didn't see the replies before

So very angry to see that class distinction (excuse the pun) is still so rife today. well I may as well give my kids leftover chicken tikka and fizzy pop for breakfast as it appears that down to their demographic they are going to be judged before they set foot in the classroom. The teachers who hold these beliefs ought not to be teaching children at all. I understand this was intended to be a bit of fun but it has been shown to be true over and over again that it is considerably harder to acheive when you are expected to fail. Appalled doesn't come near!

Seems abit cruel that they are being tarred with a brush before they've even opened their mouths!!!

Yep, glad someone said it:rofl:

Yep. That's what I was getting at tbh! Why do chavs give their kids names that will lead to them having to fight perceptions of them before they have even opened their mouths?

When naming our daughter we put 'doctor' in front of the names we were considering. If we wouldn't take a doctor seriously with that name, we ditched it from the list!

To be honest, have been a teacher for 14 years and never met another teacher who would act like this... the closest we get is a giggle when we first see our register, as I'm sure the friends of the parents get a whiff of a giggle going on when they're first introduced to Chardonnay etc... Journalists! A story from nothing!
