Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had had their first trimester screening and the scan showed the nasal bone was abscent. After my bloodwork came back it showed a 1:17 chance for downs with my Papp-A at 75.1. The only marker that I had was the lack of the nasal bone.

Has anyone ever had this and the baby was delivered normal? (BTW I hate that word...are any of us normal??)

Thanks everyone
Hugs

I didn't want to read and run. I don't have any experience but wanted to leave:hugs:

sometimes that bone is hard to see at first. i have heard other moms say the nasal bone wasnt seen on u/s but every thing turned out fine.

are you thinking of an amnio or cvs?

I had a 1:11 chance of downs and baby came back fine. I asked about soft markers at the time and i was told they were no longer classed as accurate, that the combined NT result and blood test was the most up-to-date accurate test.

I know its hell going through it, try not to lose hope. Thinking of you xx

I had a 1:15 risk of my baby having down syndrome, mostly due to a low PAPP-A score. At the CVS I asked them to look for the nasal bone but the baby didn't cooperate so they couldn't say either way.

I got the all clear on the results, the baby does not have down syndrome or any other chromosomal abnormality.

Hi Claire,

Thanks for the information. I am trying so hard to take all this with a grain of salt. You said that you had a low PAPP-A score. Mine seems to be through the roof :(

Down syndrome is characterised by lower PAPP-A than average and higher bHCG than average. Do you have your results in MoM? These are indexed so that the average is 1, so the closer to 1 your score is the better.

For example, I had a PAPP-A of 0.39 which is very low, and bHCG of 1.65 which is higher than normal but not enormously so.

O.k., well now that I'm looking at the results again, it appears that my PAPP-A is 75.4 and my PAPP-A MoM is .08. That sucks! My HCG is showing 26.1. I have always had low HCG levels my pregnancy even with my previous pregnancy. I feel as though I am striking out on this one. I have another ultrasound on Thursday to see if the anything has changed soft/hard marker wise for the baby. Prayers!!!

Thank you so much andypanda. This is really starting to wear on me. But Good thoughts and prayers from all always make be feel better :)

Thank you so much Collen. I'm really hurting spiritually now. I'm having nightmares of losing the baby and to be honest it just seems as though I have so many signs against me right now, I'm losing hope. This day cannot go quick enough. I have lost another 3 lbs :( I just need so positive news in any direction. **sigh**

Hi, just wondered how the scan went yesterday? Hope you're ok.
