Nasty forums!!

Yeh it was moneysavingexpert!! And I wish I knew it had reputation for being vultures lol! It looked a nice website you know... out for the little guy. Brrrrr, never going back there!!

MSE has gotten worse over the years, there exists on it a select few who have nothing better to do than go on some of the forums and troll. Which is a shame because you do some really good advice.

Give us a link and we will go and stand up for you!

In fairness, I've had some nastyness on here too, it's just one of those things about internet life.

Oh I feel your pain. I got hounded a few years back on an unmoderated forum for saying that we were headed for recession (my friend told me that you know the poo poo will hit the fan when the banks sell all their assets). Well they went to town on me! Unfortunately I was suffering from depression at the time so I used their comments as another stick to beat myself with .

It doesn't even help me now that my friend was right and they're probably still stuck with their overpriced properties. I didn't go online for months after that.

A lot of people forget that it's a person on the receiving end of their comments, empathy and humanity go out the window.

I'll always read a forum for a while before posting now to get a feel for the tone and level of moderation. If it seems unmoderated I don't post.

Thanks angel, maybe you wouldn't mind having a peep? Finally I feel like one of them was on my side for a wee change but the majority are still condemning me. God, they're making me out like a chav!! I don't know what I've done or said to deserve it... or maybe I'm just overreacting? I officially reported two of the worst posts and I think they got removed so I don't know how easy it would be to follow?? x

Unfortunatley thats just how some places are, and it shows you how lack of a good moderation team can cause members to run wild.

Ive never been on a forum like that, anywhere ive been has been moderated well, and this place is second to none. The team work extremely hard to keep this place as friendly and welcoming as possible. Yes we cant be everywhere on the forum at any given time but id say on the whole this is a great place to be, otherwise i wouldnt have stayed for 2 and a half years and modded here for almost 18 months

considering MSE isnt moderated at all, it actually does amazingly well, because most people can actually act like adults and either ignore, or use the ignore feature and put over opinions without being rude or hurtful. I think there is such a thing as overmoderation, we didnt all get to be 'adults' for no reason, we should be more than able to conduct ourselves without needing to be watched over as though we were still in school.
