Hi there,

I have just been to my GP to get the results of my NKC blood test, I had this done privately last week and the results were sent to her by fax. My doctor said she wasnt entirely sure what they meant as it was a specialist thing but will phone the hospital and then get back to me.

I wonder if anyone on here knows what is considered to be high or acceptable and when are steroids given etc. The results were 7% and 9%.

I am currently 6+3 pregnant and was 5+3 when I had the test last week.

Any help or advice would be very grateful as I am like a nervous wreck. After 4 miscarriages I am just desperate to hear the news that I am ok with this. I am also on clexane and asprin and progesterone this time.

Thanks in advance
x

I saw your post on the recurrent mc thread so went and had a snoop around Google

This seems interesting maybe?

Hey Stardust, I am not sure what is the normal amount. I don't even know if my dr tested me for it, but I will definitely ask at my next appointment. My doctor said everything is still so new and is in research trials, so nothing has been proven yet. After this 3rd mc that I am having she told me prednisone may be worth a shot. I am seriously considering using it next time I get my BFP just so I do everything medically possible that I can in hopes that it will help. Of course I will still sit down with my doc and ask the pros/cons first though. Good luck, I hope you get some more answers ! :hugs:

Hello! My name is Carmin and I'm new to babyandbump.com. I decided to register because I read some interesting stories and discussions on the forums.

I recently came across with publications and older posts on different forums that sustain that the women Immunity system can be responsible for miscarriage. More exactly, an Elevated Number of Natural killer Cells can lead to early aborsion by simply causing the uterus to reject the pregnancy.

I suffered 4 early heartbreaking miscarriages and since all the tests we have done on both my husband and me, including kariotype were normal, now I'm interested to test for NATURAL KILLER Cells and other immunity system connected tests. My doctor showed very interested to have me tested for NK

In this regard I have a question and look forward for your reply.
- Is there someone that tested positive with High Natural Killer Cells and follow a succesful treatment with Prednisolone?
-Is there someone suffering of recurrent early miscarriages and fallowed a good treatment that lead to a successful pregnancy?

I appreciate your help. Your advice and experience is well received and believe it will be very helpful. Thank you Very much!

Carmina I have an old schoolfriend who tested with high NK cells, was treated with prednisolone and her daughter will be 1 year old in June

Hollybush75 God bless you!! You really made my day with your answer.
Your doggy is so sweet in the pic!!!

Hi Stardust,
Are those figures % of cells or a volume? I understand that a high number of NK cells is 10-15% of cells in the uterine layer...not sure if that helps at all.
Are you on progesterone therapy too? I've been reading lots about the links between low pregesterone and immune cell problems so being on progesterone should improve your immune response. I think - but I am not a scientist!
Hope that helps xxx

I didnt have the uterine biopsy as I was pregnant when i went to have the testing, I had the blood tests only. I have since had a reply from my GP (who spoke to specialist in the NKC field) and apparently my percentages of 7% and 9% are "within normal range of the population" so I am happy to just take this as ok (well for now)

I am currently 10+2 weeks and go for my second early scan tomorrow. Just praying this is my lucky number 5 baby. I am on progesterone, asprin and clexane injections.

Thank you for replying tho x

Anyone here who took fish oil (Omega 3) during pregnancy?. It is everywhere the internet. I never took it during pregnancy but recently just read a study that concluded Fish oil helps in preventing miscarriage. I want to know which brand of fish oil is safe during pregnancy - and what dose.

Hi,

I think my percentage came up at 12% which the miscarriage clinic in london (Dr Hassan Shehata) classed as fairly high and I went on the medication of prednisolone, asprin and clexane/heparin and it worked twice for me.

Looks like things are going well for you Stardust22, hope all is good at your scan, let us know

xx

sorry just realised that you posted a little while ago!!!

Hi Carmina,
Sorry, I'm not sure on the fish oil, would be interested to know myself though, will have a look on google I think :winkwink:
