Near constant period 14 weeks postpartum

Hi all,
I'm desperate to find an answer to this, I'm basically having near constant periods since having my second child. This time I had a 3 day break, and it's started again. I'm so run down and now starting to get unwell.
I had a postpartum hemorafe a week after birth but had two scans which showed that all retained products had gone.
I've been to my gp so many times about this, firstly he tried the pill didn't make a difference (I'm reluctant to use it anyway due to family history of breast cancer) then wanted me to try the coil but said this would likely still cause more bleeding for at least three months I'm just starting to get worried something is seriously wrong?! I'm wondering if I should request a smear test? I just can't go on like this I'm exhausted.

Do you mean by a period that the bleeding stops and starts? I bled postpartum for 8 weeks, a scan did show I had some bruising, a few times I would bleed so badly it would fall out of me all over the floor like something out of a horror movie. Have you had a scan? I was generally quite ill after giving birth and the bleeding really got me down, plus on top I was very aneamic so couldn't afford to lose all that blood. I would certainly ask them to get to the bottom of it, its so draining especially with a small baby to take care of X

Thanks for your reply, yes it stops and starts it was a week on week off, now it's four days on 3 days off. It's reall starting to affect me. I just don't know how to get the doctors to take me seriously, they just kinda seem to think it's postpawrtum stuff take birth control and it'll sort it but I don't think that's the case.
I had a scan after my hemirate so they say I don't need another.
Are you still having problems? As of three weeks ago blood tests showed I wasn't yet anaemic so again nothing they will do there. I'm just feeling so weak and lightheaded now, I've booked to in for acupuncture in desperation. X

Yes I am fine now, for me the bleeding would come and go too, but that happened for maybe the last 3 weeks. Since then I've had 3 normal periods (my twins are 6 months old). Here if you went to ER they would scan you if you went with irregular bleeding still. I'm not surprised its getting you down, I was the same, hated looking in my knickers and still seeing blood, though I did have a strong phobia about having to go back to hospital (I kept being admitted again due to many complications).
