We are starting ICSI in April hopefully so can't go away yet but after the treatment I'd like to take my OH away for a week abroad.

We haven't been away in 2 years and after much emotional stress with not just ttc but work we'd love to get away either way depending on the results we get from ICSI.

If its unsuccessful I'd definately like to go away and if it's successful I'd still like to go but not sure if that's the right thing to do when so early days esp in a warm country.

I think I wouldn't book anything until I knew the results and previously friends have had bleeding and scares which has made me think maybe you should stay in uk when such early days. On the other hand I think there isn't much you can do if anything does go wrong so I'm a bit stuck!

What's peoples thoughts/experiences?

Thanks!

I have had a holiday booked since last year. I was prepared to cancel it as i was called for my cycle earlier than expected but the nurses at my clinic said to go ahead.

Mine is just 1 week after pregnancy test and they argured that with a "normal" pregnancy, you would not have missed a period so would not even know you were pregnanat. Clearly if things dont go as planned, it would be a nice distraction and give us the chance to regroup and decide how to move forward. They did advise europe rather than further afield and not to take any risks.

I'm not sure if it's ok medically, but personally, I wouldn't go.

I'd originally planned to go away somewhere for a break in April/May, but as it will be early days for me if ICSI works, I decided against it. For me, I would find it more comforting to know that I'm near the clinic if anything happened - not that they might be able to do anything about it, but just knowing that I'm within driving distance.

Another thing for me was, if something should happen, would be that I will always be left thinking, 'what if'? So instead, I'm planning on a cottage holiday somewhere in UK.

I think maybe ask the FS for his views, and then go with what you're comfortable with. :hugs:

Thank you girlies, I will wait and see what FS says and then go from there.

Would love to go away and chill but will wait and see what I feel at the time and go on the advice given :)

Thanks :) xxx
