because it has more vitamins in it. I am concerned because now he is 16 months and still on infant formula (the container says from birth up to 12 months). He is not on seperate vitamins, ped said it would be too much vitamins. (at the 15 month, he didn't address the issue, he just said to continue with the formula)
What would you do? He was diagnosed with a milk allergy so he has been on soy from birth. I just took him off a few days ago and put him on similac advanced because I have been reading a lot of negative things about soy, like medical issues and growth problems and ds seems to be on the smaller side, not sure if it's related. So far, he is doing good on similiac advanced and that is milk based.
Here is the one problem I have: Ds doesn't eat a lot of regular foods. He will only eat a banana, white potato, and shredded cheese. Nothing else, so I will give him baby food oatmeal, baby food pears, baby food green beans. Now, knowing this, Here are my questions:
- Should he be on a seperate vitamin while still taking formula?
-Do you think it's okay that he is still on formula even though he is 16 months and the formula goes up to 12 months (I just don't trust my pediatricians advice and getting another one won't be possible since the next closest one is 45 minutes away.)
- I do know there is a toddler version of formula, but I think, but not sure if that's just a supplement because toddlers eat more at this stage and don't need as much (except ds).
- Do you have any suggestions or anything at all? I am concerned with that he gets enough vitamins and I am not sure keeping him on formula will be enough. Please tell me your thoughts, thanks so much!
By the way, even though I switched him to Similac advanced, I noticed that the label says it contains soy products (as do other versions of similac except the sensitive formula), I guess you can't get away from soy totally but at least it's not totally soy based.
I am just concerned and I really need advice, thanks so much! I know I have more questions but this is what I can think of right now.
