Hi all, I was wondering if someone can help me.

I am currently 6 weeks pregnant according to an early ultrasound scan but lmp suggests I should be 7 weeks.

I am under the care of epau because I became pregnant with the copper coil in situ, after a pelvic examination it turned out to have expelled itself and was sitting in my cervix.

I had a scan on Thursday (6th Feb) which put me back a week by my dates and also saw some bruising next to the gestational sac which they said was from implantation. We did see a very good heartbeat.

Yesterday (7th Feb) I had a bleed, not much and was a pinky/red colour just on the tissue when I wiped and today I have brown/yellowish discharge. I went to a&e last night and was told by a very rude doctor that I was having a miscarriage and to just go home despite only having a very small bleed and no cramping whatsoever. He said as I'm already under the care of epau I've got to wait to speak to them on Monday.

Has anyone got any advice?

This pregnancy has been far from easy already and quite a shock but we are over the moon to be expecting again, I just can't stop stressing

Are u still bleeding hun? With my first pregnancy I had a miscarriage and the bleed started off small, but did not stop. I bled with my second pregnancy, small but stopped...resulted in baby #1. I fell pregnant again and bled until 10/11 weeks on and off. Resulted in baby #2.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that bleeding can be normal. With my miscarriage I was also treated the way you were and was told to go home, put my feet up and have a glass of wine!! I was disgusted....we all know there is nothing anyone can do if it's a miscarriage....but these professionals need to be more sensitive....it may be their job, but its our lives and feelings. I'm sorry you were treated that way.

You said they saw bruising which was from implantation....could the blood be from there?

Did u manage to speak to epau yesterday?

Hi hun,

Thanks for replying, yes I'm still bleeding, it's not soaking a pad, in fact my pad is clear but it's bright red and soaking the tissue when I wipe.

I have a scan tomorrow to see what's going on, still got no cramping but I'm really worried about the bleeding.

At my last scan they said I had a bruise where the embryo had bashed at my uterus, when I spoke to the epau they called it a hematoma, I'm pretty sure it's bad news, I've been spotting constantly now for 5 days. X

It sounds like the "bruising" you have is actually a subchorionic hemorrhage. And those tend to bled bright, fresh blood and can even have tiny clots. They can also hurt - cramping is due to blood in your uterus which is an irritant.

Did they do a pelvic exam when the doctor told you, you were having a MC? Ask if your cervix is closed. It should be closed, even if you're bleeding (unless you're actually having a MC :().

Wishing you the best!

ETA: My subchorionic hemorrhage (also called a bloodclot and hematoma) was found in my 5th week of pregnancy. I was JUST cleared last week and told it was gone, and I could get off pelvic rest. I had 4-5 big/moderate bleeds in my first trimester, and spotted more days than not. I'm not exaggerating at all. I spotted or bled for almost my entire 1st trimester. And I was cramping so much, I was in a constant state of dull, aching pain. Unfortunately this is normal for SCHs, but my baby boy is doing just fine!!

Hiya hun. Just checking in to see how you are? Hope you are ok. Xx

Hey hun, went for a scan on Wednesday and baby is fine, the heamotoma has gone but I'm still bleeding, they don't know where the blood is coming from because there's none in my uterus. still bleeding but I'm satisfied baby is well xx

By around week 8 they couldn't actually see my hemorrhage either, but they said that since its a "wound" (its the placenta tearing away from the uterus) then there might still be an active area. So even though on the ultrasound they can't see a pool of blood/hematoma/blood clot/hemorrhage - you can still bleed and spot while the "wound" heals. Hope that made sense. Glad your LO is doing well!

ETA: My advice would be to continue pelvic rest since you're still spotting/bleeding.
