Hi everyone I really need some advice please, my son isnt gaining weight, and i have the hv on my back.

I think hes happy and healthy albeit small but she today kept asking me what i wanted to do like she wanted me to put him on formula, but when i said no way to formula she agreed a week to see if i could get any change. im so stressed and worried about it all now. as she kept saying that really she should be seeking medical advise

heres his weights

when born he was 6lb 15 he went to 6.9 on day 3, day 8 he was 6.14, 27 days he was 8.8, 7 weeks 10.12,10 weeks 11.6, 13 weeks 11.12 and now at 18 weeks hes still 11.10, so over the last couple weigh ins hes dropped from the 25th to now the 0.4th centile.

im feeding on demand and he never seems unhappy when hes finished like still hungry, hes a happy healthy bouncy baby boy, given now he seems to be hitting the 4 month spurt :dohh: so hes feeding even more now, usually it was about every 3 hours and now hes feeding like every hour nd 3 x a night.
Im starting to worry if im wrong and maybe my supply is going or im not given him enough, or if i should stop worying and let him grow as he is

anyone else been through similar? what can or should I do? I have to see her next tues to reweigh him

Were you or hubby small? I was a tinker and my son was born on 50th centile and dropped to 0.4th centile and he was ff from day 3. He is now 17m and on 2nd centile. After numerous investigations they decided he is just small. He has high cal formula and it may just be that when you wean baby he will need very high cal foods as a fast metabolism. Basically I hope this encourages you to stick with bf a bit longer. Wait 2 weeks to see hv. If it was critical they'd have told you to see gp. My son lost some weight when he'd been unwell one week and that kicked off all the medical visits etc. As long as overall he is gaining he may just be small.

If he is happy, hydrated and healthy, I wouldn't stress. Drink lots and nurse on demand. He's just a smaller baby...

If he keeps dropping then obviously you need to consider adding formula but I'd say if you arr happy then keep going x

My baby boy was 7.1 when left hospital and only 9.14 oz last week, he goes back tomorrow for shots and well check. My baby very healthy too, but I worry about the gain. I will post what they say tomorrow.

My LO just rolled over yesterday at 10 weeks and is a smily cooing strong boy.

We do have more green poops now, so worried he may be getting too much foremilk.
