So I had my fs scan done a few weeks ago and they said that my ovaries are polycystic. This just verifies my blood tests that show my LH to FSH ration is very high, so I wasn't surprised...but I don't understand a few things and maybe someone who is very familiar with PCOS can help?!

1. Why do I get periods every month even if I may not be ovulating?

2. Would PCOS be to blame for my cycles getting longer by a few days each month?

3. If you take a look at my chart does it appear that this is going to be an anovulatory cycle due to my erratic temps? (My normal cycles are from 30-34 days and my past temp cycles are perfect, except for the BFN!)

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi, I'm no PCOS expert but have been diagnosed with it based on my cystic ovaries see on Transvag scan. My hormone levels are all apparantly within normal range.

Some PCOS sufferers get regular periods..I don't know why but maybe someone else can provide the answer. Having a bleed doesn't necessarily mean you ovulated although looked at your Feb chart and it's def a biphasic chart. The sustained temp shift would certainly seem to indicate that you did ovulate. Have you any more charts on your FF history that show similar pattern??

This cycle's chart does look more erratic but there are temps missing from early part of cycle. My periods are very irregular and I'd get weeks and weeks of erratic temps before finally seeing ovulation occur.

Sorry can't be of more help and hope some more seasoned PCOS'ers can help. Just wanted you to know you're not alone!

Thanks Fitzy! I did temps for January as well and they match February in pattern almost exactly. Definitely looks like I ovulated Jan and Feb but March is a bit crazy.

I guess I'm just confused because I can understand why I wouldn't be getting pg if my PCOS was keeping me from ovulating but for the most part my cycles are quite regular and my previous temps definitely showed ovulation (and past bloods showed good progesterone)...and yet I'm on cycle 13...

Hopefully some other gals will have some advice too...

Hi there - I had normal periods - very regular every month with normal flow when I skipped two for no reason. Went for private ultrasound and was diagnosed with PCOS and was prescribed with Provera and metformin and fell pregnant that cycle. I had been TTC for nearly five years.
Did they diagnose you with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome or Polycystic Ovaries?

They did diagnose me with PCOS...but I also have endometriosis but had surgery for that a few years back. I'm hoping it hasn't come back so quickly and is not currently a factor.

I have a follow up appointment with the FS in May, but I just found out I'm moving abroad before that. Ugh...just as I'm getting somewhere I have to move and start over with another doctor! So frustrating.

google LUFS (luteinized unruptued follicle syndrome) to see if applies to you
this explains why you can have regular cycles, look as if you are ovulating on charts, getting a positive OPK but not get pregnant due to anovulation.
hope this helps
good luck
xxx

Oh great info! I just spoke with my sister and she has already been diagnosed with LUFS so I'm pretty sure it's my problem as well!
