Hello! I'm here from TTC, and I need some help.

I got a faint, but pink, line on an IC 8DPO. However, I kept getting BFNs after that. So I got a blood test and got my results back today. This is what they said.

On the top it says ** ABNORMAL **, then it says;

BETA-HCG - <2 (Range - 0-2 U)

FSH - Abn - Y - LO - 1.4 (day 23) (Range 3.5-12.5 U)

LH - 2.9 (Range - 2.4-12.6 U)

SHBG - 34

I am so worried right now. The doctor told me my results were normal then I get them on paper and see abnormal! Wtf. Then I see my LH is higher than my FSH and research says this can be due to PCOS.

I am so confused.

I can't see me having PCOS because I have very regular, and 'normal' periods. They're not long, they're not short, I ovulate (as far as I can tell by temping and OPKs) and my periods aren't overly painful. But some of the PCOS signs that I have are;

Hair on the face and elsewhere (I have some, it's not super obvious, but I hate it. And my stomach and back are quite hairy. And my upper lip has a little bit of hair - gosh, I'm painting myself to be a monster. I'm not that bad, I promise :rofl:)

Weight gain (but then I have had some eating troubles due to stress/depression)

Hair thinning on the top of the head (but that got a little better with me treating my hair better)

Doctor's supposed to be calling me back but not until his after his lunch break which could be after 3! :growlmad: He's so rubbish - he never explains things properly, neither does he listen and he seems to not know what he's talking about. How can he tell me my results are fine when they're clearly not!

Please help, ladies. I have always had this irrational fear of being infertile, and now these results are making me sorry that I do have a fertility issue.

If I am in the wrong section, by all means tell me and I'll try and find the right one to post my worries.

Thank you in advance xx

I would seriously consider another doctor if he doesn't explain things properly and doesn't seem to listen. I changed fertility specialists because of the same reason and I LOVE my new one. He is very good at explaining everything and very optimistic. I wish I had changed sooner. There are good ones out there. I don't know exactly what your results mean. I am going myself today for follow up bw since my day 3 bw came back as too high on progesterone & estrogen and I still have an active follicle??? 3 weeks after ovulation? I'm very confused and can't wait to get to the bottom of this. GL, let us know how it goes.

It is true that if LH is higher then your FSH that a person could have PCOS but I'm pretty sure that has to be bloods that are taken on day 3 of your cycle to say if tou actully have PCOS. LH and FSH would have different values on different days. It definitely looks like the blood test was negative but it could of been a chemical pg, that happened to me a few months ago. I got a value of '2'. Also, the 'abnormal' could be that the lab was comparing your values to another cycle day such as cd3.

I know it's hard to take a step back when it's your results. If this were mine I probably would've freaked out too. If you are concerned I would suggest do a months worth of bloods. Which is usually only 2 days, cd3 and cd21 (well more accurately, 7dpo bloods, when progesterone is at it peak). There might be one more but I don't know what cd.

I so agree with Marie, if you don't like your doctor then change. I did and it was also the best decision I ever made!

Actually you can have PCOS and have no symptoms for it all. Regular periods, no weight gain, no facial hair, acne..so it pays to be thoroughly tested. In addition to further blood testing, I would ask for an ultrasound to be checked for abnormal cysts.

Is this your doctor or a fertility specialist? You're general GP won't be able to properly diagnose you as he's not a specialist. I would see about getting referred to a FS.

Hey guys, just to update - all is okay. She says I don't have PCOS.

However, my prolactin levels were slightly raised on my last BT.

I am going for a re-test soon x
