So I figure this is the perfect place to have a little rant and hopefully some of you ladies will understand ... ill start by saying I feel very blessed with my situation, Jaxton was born at 35 weeks 6 days and has done amazingly well right from the begining ... i know most babies born then have at least some kind of complication and I am so lucky to not have to go through what what alot of you here have had to go through...but I have been having people tell me that Jaxton isnt actually a preemie because he was 7lbs 15.7oz when he was born and like I said had no complications... I KNOW my dates because I had a scan as 7 weeks 3 days which put my due date at June 9th ...I had another scan at 9 weeks 5 days which also said june 9th ... but my due date was changed at my 12 week scan to june 5th , not too big of a difference ... its been bugging me so much that people think they know better than my OB and the untrasound techs ... I tell them I had the scans and they tell me " ultrasounds can be wrong " .. Yes they can but not a whole month off when youre 7 weeks! .... sorry about the petty rant :p its just been so frustrating and I still feel I need to treat him and acknowledge him as a preemie since the nurses in the hospital made sure I understood his size did not make him a full term baby, then people with no medical degree try to down play the fact that he was born an entire month early ! Just had to get that off my chest please take no offence

My dd was born at 34+4 - she wasnt huge - 5lb 80z - but thats not tiny either and all she needed help with was feeding so I understand where you're coming from! I too had a couple of people say 'maybe your dates were off as she was a pretty good size and did so well' - but i know they werent!!!

My daughter is now 18 months and she is huge! She very quickly shot up to the 98th centile (and that was uncorrected!) so I know how you feel about people not taking the preemie thing seriously as people are suprised when i tell them. She generally hit her milestones on her due date rather than birth date, and I cut her slack because I know she was 6 weeks early although the older she gets its not really an issue.

Anyway, just smile and ignore! XX
