Need to lose 3 stone to be allowed Fertility Treatment, advise and help needed.

So being 33, my internal clock is starting to tick. Me and hubby have been trying for 3 years for a LO but no joy. So now my dr has agreed to refer me to the fertility specialist but I need to lose 3 stone.

I am 5 ft 2 ish!
I weigh 15 stone 8 lb (at the mo........I have lost 4lb since dr told me to lose it)

I have been on a modified diet for a week, averaging about 1200 calories a day with about 20-30 mins of walking/exercise a day. No chocolate, loads of fruit, salad and counting my calories on myfitnesspal.com.

Is 1200 calories okay for a weight loss diet?
Any tips, little things to change etc.
I have never been to WW or SW as I don't eat red meat but do eat chicken, fish and I am afraid their plans would involved red meat and other things I can't eat due to allergies.

I lost 4lb within days of starting but nothing for a few days.
I am a bit discouraged as I have just had dinner (salad, chicken) and I am starving!!!!
 
I have never done WW but with SW you make up your own meals, they aren't inflicted on you! You can have any lean meat so can steer well clear of red meat or you can go veggie or choose to do any mixture, you take it day by day. An example is I just had chicken wrapped in bacon (any visible fat removed), salad, two small jackets and the only thing I had to measure was the cheese on my jackets, then followed it with a mullerlight and it was all 'free' food and didn't touch my daily 'syn' allowance which I can use on naughty stuff!
 
Thanks for the advise. I have never been to WW or SW and my current job doesn't allow me a lot of time for meetings but I have decided that if I get to a certain weight and can't shift anymore, I will enroll. By then I hope to be in a different job and I can make time to go to the meetings.

Weighed myself earlier. Looks like I have lost another 3lbs! Thats 7lbs in almost 2 weeks!!! I am a bit flabbergasted but I know the weight drops off quick when you first start!
 
I am very confused about this also as everything i have read says we should be eating more than 1200 to lose weight the healthy way. I am myfitnesspal as well :) i have lost 12lb in the last 17 days and 22lb over all. I have around 1400 calories a day. But everything i have read says we should have more. I say that at the moment what your doing is working :)) So keep it up then if it slows down maybe up your calores or change your exercise
 
The plain truth about the whole "starvation" mode kicking in and not losing wieght if you don't eat enough is really not that simple.

If it was then how would anorexic people be so thin? Not to say in the least that people should stop eating or that I am promoting anorexia. But just to say that if you don't feel hungry you're probably eating enough. And most health mags, sites and fitness writers tend to say the same thing. Don't drop below 1000 calories and you're safe, but take a multivitamin to be extra careful that you are getting the right nutrients.

Another note, last summer I wanted to lose weight before a friend's wedding I was in and I did something different. I read a book by Timothy Ferris about the slow carb diet. Basically I abstained from all grains, white carbs like potatoes, pasta, rice, all fruit, even in juice form, dairy and anything processed or fried. I ate salads, beans, eggs, chicken, nuts, veggies, beef, etc. Lots of water. LOADS of water. You follow this for six days and don't count calories, eat as much as you want. Always eat with an hour of waking too. On the seventh day you eat whatever you want. Seriously. I ate a whole pizza for dinner once. I did this for six weeks and lost 37 lbs and didn't put it back on. Additionally, it changed the way I wanted to eat and without trying over the next months I lost an additional 12 lbs. Still have never put it back on.

Worth a try for anyone, and basically the easiest diet ever.
