So Me and OH are looking at buying a new house. However the one that we both really like is a 3 storey town house. Living room and kitchen downstairs. Middle floor is a big and little bedroom and on the top floor is the master bedroom.
This means our room would be a flight of stairs away from LO.

How would you all feel about that? Even if we took the other room on the middle floor it means that when we have another baby we come back to the same problem. Would you all be comfortable been on a different floor to your baby/toddler??

It wouldn't bother me too much but I think I would invest in one of those monitors with a video so I could keep an eye on her x

Same, when you had another little one you could have the cot in the room with you for ages, I bet it's a big room and then have a monitor. I live in a place with those type houses, I'm very jealous as we can't afford them!

We didn't buy a 3 storey for that reason! Not because I was worried about being on different floors but because it meant a flight of stairs every time lo woke! Xx

We have been thinking the same thing, I also really like the 3 storey style!
The only thing that keeps playing on my mind is that what would happen if an intruder broke in? Being a whole floor from my baby in that situation could be very dangerous. Similarly with a fire. I know these things are not likely to happen but it is putting me off slightly!

We have an Edwardian terrace and put a loft conversion in so we sleep in the loft, my 3 year old dd sleeps on the floor below and 10 week old baby sleeps with us but will move down when he is 6 months old.
We built the loft when dd turned 2 and went into a big bed. The main issue was that her room was opposite the stairs so we were worried she would fall down if she got up so we use a stairgate on her room as our stairs were not suitable fir one. Other than that there have been i issues and a massive us is that the baby never wakes her up.

I think I would prefer if they were on the floor above me not below me. I don't really know why though it doesn't make much sense!

I think I would probably get used to it though, and like PP said get one of those monitors.

I agree with pp- when I was preg we lived in a 3 story house like this and decided to move for reasons pp have said. Also HATED walking up to the top of house and then back down again if you forget somethin (maybe I'm lazy lol).
If we still lived there I'd manage but if def not advise someone with a young baby to move to one- maybe when lo is 2+ and not as needy.
