Evening all,

As above please. I am going for my 20 week scan on the 24th August and my mum was meant to be comming with me and OH. However, she may have to going into hospital for a few weeks.

This is her first grandchild and she is really excited, but upset she may miss the scan. So I wanted to ask if you ladies have any cool ways to announce to my mum that she is either having a grandson or granddaughter, without just going in and saying its a boy its a girl.

Thanks in advance all.

:flower:

My OH cant be there for my 20 week scan so i'm going to get them to write it down on two pieces of paper so we can both read them at the same time. That way we both get the excitement at the same time :) Hope you come up with something.

i would ask the sonographer if you can record the scan on your fone, then show your mum and ask her to guess what she thinks shes having...grandson/granddaughter?...or show her the video and say "we just thought you might like a wee look at your grandons/granddaughter"...or buy an "its a boy" "its a girl" card and put the pic inside it..just a few suggestions x

Holly2234: I think that idea is lovely :) I doubt I could hold off peaking at my piece of paper. lol

Lulu35: I like the card idea, that is really cool. Maybe I could find a card that says 'Your going to be a nan to as baby.... and inside it says. THANK YOU.

If she's going into hospital maybe you could buy her something nice (even if it's just a little cake) and get two boxes...one that says girl and one that says boy, let her guess what box to open. If she guesses right she gets the treat, if not, well damn it just give it to her anyway.
Or you could book a private 4d or just a gender scan when she's out of hospital so she can go along to a scan with you. When you have your 20 week scan either keep it a secret from her what you're having or just wait a little longer to find out yourself?

We have these cool babygrows in the boots in our town...
they are like 'i love my nanny' and 'i love my poppy' <---- lots of different variations, like
and they come in three colours - pink, blue, and yellow.
Basically the point of this story is - you could get something similar like that, and wrap it in a big box or something....
and give it to her... You will get the dvd and pictures and that, it would be neat to get a picture put in a frame, one of those ' i love my granny', you usually get them in like birthdays or that...

No matter what you do, any sort of effort behind it, she will love it!!

Good luck, and well wishes to your mummy :hugs:

Try a site like moonpig where you can edit cards. Order it before-hand leaving the inside blank then you can fill it in when you find out.

I've actually heard of some cool ideas.
Putting on a shirt i'm gunna be a grandma to a boy/girl!!
Getting a bib that says garndma loves her grandson-daughter and putting it on her favorite pet.
I guess it matters on the person adn what suits her best for the surprise.
If she's gunna miss something memorable...make it memorable when she finds out!
Good luck :D

moonpig sounds best to me I cant wait bet your :blue: like me xoxo

Paul will be pleased... He needs people on 'his team' lol. It would be wird if we both are on team :blue:

Im super excited, I want my mum to come to, but want her to go to the hospital to get a bit better too!

Make cupcakes? Sorry Im obsessed lol!!
But if you make the cake either blue or pink, and cover with white icing...so when she bits into the cake the colour of the cake indicates boy or girl :D

Oh I LOVE this idea. My mum loves the muffins that I make. I make banana and white choc chip ones. Then I could colour the mixture either blue or pink, and find something to put on the top.

Oh thank you Fay, I think this is what I shall do!!! :flower::flower::flower:

Since you'll most likely be excited and want to go buy something, if its a girl get a dress and if a boy get little jeans and a stripped shirt or something. Then you can wrap it and put a sign on the front saying "Its a..."

Buy some pink/blue booties and leave them somewhere bvious for her to see as a surprise, like on the mantlepiece. A friend left some booties in a dish in the kitchen she knew her husband would look in as soon as he came home cause he missed the scan, i thought it was nice. x

I like that idea, but I dont live with my mum.

I just tried to make muffins with blue colouring, and they looked normal. Lol. But tasted yummy. I am going to put melted white chocolate on normal muffins and colour the chocolate with either pink or blue. See how that works out.

xXx
