Tomorrow is my first weigh in since 9wks and i have put on approx 2 stone 10lbs already

I'm so nervous at what she will say to me!!
I haven't even been eating really badly it's just come out of nowhere, i'm hoping alot of it is water as i haven't been able to wear my rings for 6wks. I had a healthy BMI of 23 at 9wks.

Has anyone else put alot on already and what did your midwife say?
Help!!!

Are u deffo getting weighed? I thot i would at my appts but I have only been weighed once at booking in, midwife said they dont need to do it again. Thank god!! lol

I was getting weighed every month and then every 2 weeks and now every week...it's dreadful. I have gained over 40 pounds!! My doctor isn't worried, my bmi prepregnancy was 19 and he seems to think I am perfectly healthy and baby is getting all it needs! :) don't worry too much!

Everyone gains different, I gained well over two stone with my daughter, and have gained 2 and a half so far this time. Dont be worrying, you have the baby, the waters, placenta, your boobs will weigh more plus your body hoards water and some fat for the baby for afterwards. You can lose it and you will lose a huge chunk of weight when baby comes out so dont be worried. You are absolutely fine!!! x

Why is she weighing you? They dont usually weigh you in the uk at all unless at booking-in apt xx

That's so weird, my hospital doesn't do weigh-ins after the booking in appointment, and the community midwife never weighs me. They say that ladies know if they gained weight so what's the point in making them feel bad about it, and if it gets to the point where it's affecting the baby then they'll deal with it if it happens. So weird how everywhere is so different about this.

i've put on 3 stone  and was worried about being weighed but i haven't been weighed since my booking in appointment either and my midwife has not mentioned it.
fingers crossed she wont weigh you. and if it makes you feel any better i gained 4 stone with my last 2 pregnancies and a lot of it was water, and my midwifes then didn't mention it. the water weight came off and swelling went down after i gave birth too. :hugs:

Up here they weight at booking and at full term. My midwife was happy with my gain - I started at booking with a bmi of 30 and had gained 20lbs which she says was great.

I weighed myself at a prior appointment and she didnt want to hear the weight, wasnt the slightest bit interested.

Don't know why they'd weigh you mid pregnancy unless they are keeping an eye on your weight for some reason

Awww thanks girls, feel a bit better now :flower:

I am assuming she is weighing me as in my pregnancy notes it says at 28wk appointment a list of things u discuss and do and for 1 of the things it says weigh

Could any of you check your notes and see if yours mentions this? It's on like a table of what happens at each appointment.

Mine doesn't say anything about weight, I only know they do it at those times as of my previous pregnancy.

They've got very different routines throughout the UK! lol

At the end of the day, what is the worst she's going to say - don't eat so much, try do some gentle exercise -blah blah. Make sure you're in leggings and a light top not jeans too hahah!

:haha: Will do lol x

you could always just tell her you'd rather not be weighed. nothing is compulsory x

Yeah i guess i could. If not when she says right lets weigh u i will just say i already know i've put loads on lol. Oh well never mind x

I had my 28 week appointment today and she did weigh me for the first time since booking in appointment. I've put on one and a half stone, over two by my scales though but I'll go by hers haha

I've not been weighed since booking in but got the impression when the consultant checked my notes at 24 weeks he was assesing weight gain by sight iykwim. He looked at my starting BMI and then looked at my body (in a medical way:haha:) as if he was making sure he was happy I wasn't too big etc:shrug:

I haven't put much on (actually no idea how much i weigh) but have been surprised that I haven't been weighed since my first appointment. Is this normal?

Yeah thats normal, i havent been weighed since booking in, 2moro will be the 1st time since so maybe u will be at ur 28wk ap too, although sounds like alot of places dont do it, lucky them!

I guess it's only a guide. Maybe there are better ways to check how healthy you are etc
