nervous to use my favorite name...

I'm currently TTC but I'm a baby name addict.


I know this may sound weird, but my all time favorite name for a girl is Isla (eye-la). I've loved it for so long, and it's the only name my husband loves too (shocking!) but I'm nervous because people will always mispronounce it.

I love the name though, and i'm pretty sure I will probably still use it.

It's been in the top 50, so most people will have heard of it I would imagine!
Saying that, when I had Jayden, no-one had heard of the name even though it's supposed to be really popular! I had never heard of it before I started name hunting either!

If it's your favourite name, I would use it! You would only regret it in the future if you didn't!

Hello Isla is the name that we have chosen should this little one be a girl. I love it. People can pronounce it how ever they want i wont be put off lol.

My mum seems to think it's a weird name cause of how it's spelt. She says it should be Iyla and am i sure i have it right lol. All this coming from a Babara francis. lol.

It's a lovely name so don't be put off by peoples mispronunciation of it

Are you in the UK? The name is pretty popular here now so I would be surprised if many people mispronounced it nowadays. BTW I love it - it's one of my daughter's middle names.

I think you should go with the name you and your hubby like! I agree with all the other ladies when they say people will mispronounce all kinds of names even obvious ones. My daughter's name is Jiselle ( Ji-Cell). I purposly spelled it with an "s" instead of "z" because I didn't like the way Jizelle ( Jah-Zelle) sounded. But, people still pronouce it that way even when they ask her name and I say it the proper way. I think its a beautiful name and I'm sure she will love it!

I love it. I recently added it to my list of girl names but my DH shot me down.

I think its a name that will become increasingly popular over the next few years in the U.S. but right now its not too common here.

My niece is called Isla and there's never been a problem with people mispronouncing her name. If someone occasionally makes a mistake I don't think it's the end of the world. It's such a pretty name you should definitely use it especially since it's been your faavourite for so long. I'm just ttc too but am also obsessed with names!
