never feel kicks above belly button does this mean he's breech

could be his transverse like mine, dont worry u still have plenty of time for him to move xx

if you're transverse still at 34 weeks it's very painful. Just warning. Try the spinning babies website it's the only thing that worked for me.

My baby is now head down and I only get kicks down below. She's folded in half, so her feet are by her head. Interesting right?

Oh yeah, and if a doctor tells you you can't deliver a baby vaginally when breech, they LIE!!!!!!!!!! They just don't like to do it.

I am now overdue and still haven't felt any kicks much higher than my belly button and baby has been head down since 31 weeks. Sometimes they just fold and tuck themselves up well!

I also have a long torso which probably makes a difference.

hi again everyone,

i've been feeling so stressed and panicky about the thought of having a c- section. I've been doing some research online and i will feel so robbed if i have to have it.

As far as i understand it, would i be pre-booked in for the c-section if he hasn't turned, so would this mean that i wouldn't go through labour or feel any contractions? Would the section be booked for my due date?

Also, it only takes about an hour and you don't feel ANYTHING!! is this really right? i wanted to experience labour and have my little angel come into the world the natural way, i don't want him cut and pulled out, i feel so upset at that thought.

Also, the recovery period seems to be long - no driving for 6 weeks and i will struggle to pick him up? it says that the milk comes later as your body hasn't gone through the motion of giving birth and I really would love to get onto a smooth start with breastfeeling.

Sorry for the moan - can any ladies who've had c sections please clarify the above points about whether they are correct or give me any words of wisdom or help.

I'm so scared

Sweetie nobody can force you into having a c-section (although it is better for breech since there is a huge lack of trained professionals able to deliver a breech baby). I also felt the same way when I was breech (but baby turned luckily). I did tell my MW that I wouldn't like a planned section and would like to go into labour naturally in order to experience it and then have the section. They couldn't refuse my wishes.

Everybody is different with recovery, some bounce back quickly and some have a tougher time of it but just try to think that as long as both you and baby are healthy it's all good in the long run :hugs:

Thanks everyone.

I'm sure he's breech as I have a massive round melon shaped bulge in between my ribs just under where the centre of my breasts meet.

I presume this is his head sticking out? As I said before I feel no movement at all above the belly button, so think it's his little legs booting me down below.

I just would love to experience the birth and have dreams about him coming into the water naturally. I feel so upset about him coming out in theatre.

Also, the long recovery time with a c section fills me with dread, I can't hold him easily in the beginning, i don't want to be looked after, just wanted it to be me, OH and our babby not endless family hanging around and fussing. **God I sound awful ** I also can't drive, exercise, walk and I know I will be depressed confined to the house for so long. It says that it takes 4 days for your body to produce breast milk as your hormones don't know you've gone through birth.

So sorry to moan girls, just feeling so depressed.

P.S Do you think it's too dangerous to deliver breech? I wonder if the midwife says no, I will have to research a hospital that would be happy to deliver him in a breech position.

How far gone are you?

still plenty of time for baby to turn then. They won't book you in for a section until at least 37 weeks. Get on all fours and don't recline on the sofa.

Don't panic until you need to panic iykwim?

Oh wowsy - will they book you in for a section as early as 37 weeks? Why not wait until 39 weeks?

I've got a whole flat to sort out :haha:

Getting on all fours tonight - will also see if i can get booked in for a scan at the hospital in the meantime as midwife is useless and thinks he's breech, although won't confirm it.

At least that way I can get a definite answer :happydance:

No, I mean they might give you a date at 37 weeks, not actually deliver and they will always check baby's position before they start any procedure.

Yes, get a scan for sure. As I say, I have no kicks above belly button and I am definitely head down and have been for weeks. I am nearly 41 weeks now so sometimes some babies just don't kick high, it doesn't mean they are breech x

Hi hope you don't mind me crashing third tri but I was booked for a c-section as my LO was breech from about 32 weeks. I received really good advice on here and asked for a trial of labour before c-section (they call it an 'emergency' c-section but that just means it wasn't booked in advance, it's the same procedure)
Erin was eventually born naturally, in a frank breech position.

My baby was head down and never once kicked above my belly button. He stayed tucked up and down low the entire time. Also, he was transverse until 35 weeks or so before he tucked his head into my pelvis.

Don't worry yourself, if you don't know you don't know. There's plenty to learn here everyday for all of us x
