Wow, I've been reading this section in anticipation for months and now I'm finally here!

Olivia Rose is now 12 days old (where has that time gone?!) and I *think* we are really getting the hang of this booby feeding.

When she was first born we were feeding fine, but then I got a diarrhoea and vomiting bug from the hospital which made me so unbelievably ill for 6 days...I couldn't eat, and what i was eating and drinking wasn't staying down, I was also on strong antibiotics for a third degree tear and lost over a litre of blood at delivery. Because of all this, I just wasn't making enough milk to satisfy her. She wouldn't settle, cried every second, wouldn't sleep and was a really unhappy baby. I was exhausted and wanted to give up. But something kept me going...like an inner strength and determination to do what I think is best for my amazing little baby girl. That along with the support of my OH really kept me on track.

As I got to feel better, me and Olivia stayed up a whole night and just fed and fed and fed which really brought my milk in, and then we wrote down everything...every feed, how long for, which boob, every nappy and its contents and all of a sudden a 'routine' appeared on the page in front of us!

I'm sure there will be bad days and weeks to come, but now every second I look at my little booby drunk baby girl I'm already so proud of what we have both got through and I'm so glad that I didn't give up. Today we went into town to register her birth, and I booby fed her in the Boots mum and baby room along with two mums who were feeding their little ones with formula they were making up from flasks and I was so proud of myself and my little missy.

Sorry this has got a bit long and emotional! There will be plenty of questions coming your way from me in the next few weeks, months and years I'm sure, but for now :hugs: I'm so glad to be here xxxxxx

Wow, what an amazing determination!! You should certainly be very proud of yourself. Well done hun and welcome to your new home!!
xx

Hi, welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story. Well done you! You'll be a breastfeeding champion on here before you know it with that positive attitude :)

Sorry you've had such a rough time, but well done for being such a fab, fab mummy! You're determination is amazing.:cloud9: Good luck for many more months of a booby drunk baby!!:happydance:

Well done, it sounds like you've really been through the mill ! Glad to hear everything is going well now

well done you!! Sound like you had a rough start. I had the same problem. In hospital a week, blood transfusion etc, and found the first few weeks of BF really tricky. But now i love it!!!!!

Where in London are you?

You made me smile there hun! You should be proud!

Well done and congrats too :hugs:

I'm not in London any more...I really should update that!

We moved back home to be near my OH's parents in Stockport/Manchester in time for the arrival of Olivia. Not that we have needed them yet, but it's nice to know they are near if we ever did.

Ah so near Manchester!! We have started to have Manchester meets pretty regular so hopefully we'll get to meet you and Olivia one day soon! :D

Thanks to all of you for your lovely replies - brought a little tear to my hormonal eyes :hugs:

I feel so lucky that such a supportive little corner of the internet exists for mummys like me :cloud9:

Oooh, theres meeting up involved as well!! How fun! I was just thinking what me and Olivia are going to do with our time when Daddy goes back to work! I will definitely be there.

I'm going to try all of the groups they throw at you as well, and see if any of them are any good, if only to show off my gorgeous baby girl to the world

Defiantely! The baby groups are great for meeting mums too. I go to one periodically and I know some of the mum's there but a few of them have gone every week for months. They were just saying how nice it is that they have all seen their babies come on from just laying there to crawling all over now! :D

Wow well done you that is some amazing determination you have :) You should be SO proud of yourself... :hugs: :hugs:

Wow, sounds like you had a rough start. Reading that just brought back all the memories of 6 weeks ago when I was going through a similar thing with my little girl. It's so good to hear that you stuck with it and you are both doing so well now. :hugs:

congrats on your little girl hon sounds like you are doing a great job!

and i think going and meeting other mums at clubs is a great thing to do, gets you and baby out the house which is soooo important! i have gone to one every week since Freddie was 2 weeks old i love it and have made lots of great friends there xxx

Congratulations! You are doing wonderfully and are one determined mummy :hugs: Welcome to your new home :)
