Hi everyone! I just recently found out I am pregnant, with our first. I have a couple of questions (or really, I have a lot of questions!!)

Firstly, my last period was the end of March. When I missed my period in April, I took a test and it was neg so I also got blood work done and it was neg. When I missed again in May, I took 2 at home test and they are both positive. So I don't know if I am 2 months or 1 month??

Also, when I called the doctor, the receptionist said I didn't need to come in for another blood test because with two positive at home test, I'm def pregnant. However, my first appointment is not until July 7th! Does this seem normal??

Thanks!

That seems a really long time to wait. I have to wait until I'm 8 weeks to see the doctor, which some people seem to think is a long time, so I don't know. That could just be how they do things where you are.

Thanks for your reply. It seems like a really long time to me too. But like you said, I guess its just how they do things.

Hey I only saw my midwife today and I'm 8 weeks! If ur in the Uk like I am i think they are pretty slow at doing appointments (personal experience so far!) And with regards to ur negative tests, I had the same...had 3 home tests, two postive, 1 neg. docs did a blood test which was neg, I found out a def positive from a baby clinic. So u could already be 2months!! Good luck!! xx

Thanks! Congrats to you! I am so excited. But my fiance and I thought about waiting until our first appointment to tell our families, but that seems so far away!!

Based on when you actually had a period last (end of March), you could potentially be 14-15 weeks @ your first visit. I think you should call the office and tell them your situation: you're unsure of dates and when your LMP was. Then they may have you come in to get a blood test for HCg levels or go ahead and do an ultrasound scan to appropriately date you.

We were going to wait, but we don't have any patience! Now that I'm further along, I'm okay with having told people, but right after we found out, I was nervous, because I kept expecting it to have been a false positive (not that I have any reason for one, just can't believe it) Plus, my whole family was together, and we were able to get the announcement on tape, so it was hilarious!

My doc does the same thing - if you get a bfp at home there is no need for a blood confirmation. Since your last period was 2 months ago, it is a tad ridiculous to make you wait so long! Where are you? A lot of States doctors have you come in for your first appt between 6-8 weeks. Making you wait until you're in the second tri seems irresponsible to me....

I agree, July would mean that you potentially miss your 1st dating scan (uk that is) call them and explain the situation. I hope you get seen sooner.
And congratulations.

Congrats to you too!! We were going to wait to tell people but I got too excited and told all my family and friends! Everyone was so pleased to find out though! Tell people when u feel ready, good luck with it!! Hope u get ur appointments sorted too!! x

Morgan, where are you located? I have the same dates as you, LMP was late March but I got a BFP in late April after I missed my period. I insisted on seeing the doc at 6 weeks because there is no way I'm waiting.

For peace of mind I'd say you insist they see you... we are in our 9th week now!

I am in Delaware. I don't know what to think? I'm so not a pushy person so I don't know if I should call them back and say no I need to be seen! I did explain the situation to her. I don't know how I am going to wait another month. But she did tell me that they don't see women until they are 9-12 weeks.
