Hi ladies,

First time writing on this forum.

I'm 25 and my husband is 24. We are in our 13th month ttc our first.
I'm currently getting some blood tests done and OH has had a SA done, we found out the results at the beginning of June and sadly his results said zero sperm.
My husband does bodybuilding so in order to help he takes gym supplements (not steroids). Our doctor had told him to stop taking them and do another SA in 3 months time Incase it's them giving him a zero count.
Really just need to be able to talk someone that maybe is in the same boat as us. We have 2 months to go before he can test again but the wait and not knowing is driving me crazy.

Any info or advise would be greatly applicated. Thanks xx

Hey! My SO has been bodybuilding since he was 15. He takes the JYM brand supplements: creatine, protein powder, pre and post workout... he doesn't take steroids either. Tbh, I know higher testosterone can lower sperm and sometimes I feel like his T is crazy. We just started trying, so we haven't sought outside help. But another member told me those supplements are safe to take to ttc and don't affect sperm since he husband knows a lot about them. BUT I come from a long line of super fertile women, and I know it is really easy for me to get pregnant. So if I am fertile Myrtle, our timing is on point, and three cycles in I am not preggo... I can't help but think it is his swimmers. Esp since the last time we got preggo he wasn't taking something that affected his testosterone. He has been on the last month due to an injury so if I get pregnant this month... shrugs

Hey, thanks for replying. My husband started around 15 as well so it's been a long time taking stuff. I'm not sure what brand he was taking but he to was taking protein shakes, creatine and per and post workout stuff.
Last year he done 3 prohormone cycles and didn't take any pct after each one, iv read that your supposed to take that after. He has also done test boosters. The last time he done them was last December and done both, prohormones and test boosters. do you think that could of shut him down?
I know that to much or to little testosterone can give you a lower or zero count. Soy can also lower a mans count, not sure by how much though.

This is your first cycle, so I suggest not worrying. I can't weigh in on the other stuff since I don't have experience with it. I say try a couple cycles. It can take a healthy couple up to a year to conceive. There is an over the counter sperm check. I haven't used it, but it is crazy what is on the shelves lately. I am giving SO two more cycles until I talk to him since it would gut him if he has sperm issues (he is super masculine and thinks his sperm is awesome) and he is dealing with a lot

Sorry, we are on our 13th cycle and my oh has already got a zero count result.

Thanks for your help and good luck with your ttc journey, fingers crossed your oh is all good :)

Is he willing to stop taking them until you conceive? I have read mixed things about supplements, but those that had issues usually cleared up quickly once they got off of them.

Lol that's ok. Yea, he stopped taking everything at he begining of last month when he found out his results and started to take wellman vitimins to see if they help. If his bits have been shut down though then I'm not sure if they will help.

Is it possible that he has taken steroids in the past? Or maybe he takes them now and you're not aware? I ask because we watched a documentary about them before and I don't believe that supplements could affect sperm count but steroids definitely do. I really hope that things work out for you!

He's promised me that he hasn't taken any steriods but he had done 3 cycles of prohormones when are similar to steriods and didn't take any pct after. He's also taken testosterone boosters a number of times. I spoken to someone on a bodybuilding forum lol and he seems to think it's because of them, he's suggested taking clomid to level out his hormones but we won't do anything till we have spoken to the doctor. I'm hoping it is because of what he's taken as think it's reasonably easy to fix but we will see. Thanks for your comment :)

Bless your heart! That has to be so frustrating! I bet the clomid would clear it up if that's what it's from. Crossing my fingers for you!

It is extremely frustrating as its over doing something so stupid. Thank you though, we will definitely mention clomid if the doctor doesn't.
