New here, gearing up for 1st Clomid/IUI cycle

Hi girls, I have also just finished my first cycle of Clomid...currently awaiting OV.

Does anyone know when to expect OV? I've read on the internet that it takes between 5-10 days after last Clomid tablet but I'm not quite sure. I'm using OPK but just dont want to miss the date.

Fingers crossed for all of us! x

hi ya,i just finished my first cycle 2.i'm on cd10 now and had my first scan.the nurse told me 2 start trying 2day until friday.than i have 2 go back for another scan.what happen with u?

I can imagine the fear about gaining the weight back but missing a day won't make a difference - I know you know :), and totally understand why you want to keep going every day. Once you get your BFP, will you go regularly as well? I'm slowly setting new years resolutions and trying to figure out how much exercise to commit to.

Ugh...am on 10dpo and have convinced self that I'm not pregnant this month and am getting the "AF is coming" blues. Sigh - back to folding laundry.

is cd14 a little late for you to O or when do you typically? I am on cd8 now and last month I o'd on cd15.. but who knows with Clomid for this month..

Normally I O on CD 13 or 14.

It seems from others' experiences that with Clomid, they O 5-10 days later than normal, which makes sense since Clomid is suppressing the body when you take it when it would normally be gearing up for O.

I sent an email to my RE's office to check what's "normal" and by when they expected me to O. Haven't heard back yet :(

P.S. I would love to start running again, and the few times I was out a couple months ago, I noticed I had a lot of spotting after running. Is this typical for first-time runners (or those who haven't run since college LOL)? Sorry if that's TMI

Hope_12~ it's TOO early to count yourself out! Sooo many people don't get BFP's til 16 DPO and such- hang in there! And it's not a matter of "if" ~ it's going to be a matter of "when!"

I am honestly unsure how much I will work out once I am preggo ... (let it be January! ;) ) I know for sure I will be taking it easier.. I am guessing I will bike ride or do the elliptical, walking... etc... over running. I have a hard time sitting still, lol.. but I guess it all depends on the pregnancy too. I was a lazy lady when preggo with my son 8 years ago.. in fact ~ having him is what really prompted me to get back in shape!

Beau Geste~ I'm not sure if spotting is normal or not when starting to run again... hard to say! When I started running~ I never did... I think if I was preggo and spotting, i would not run again the rest of my pregnancy!

I've read a few threads on some running websites where other women talk about it, so I thought I'd ask.

I think if I would freak out with bleeding during pregnancy from just walking around the block!!

I would freak out just as much too honestly... it's VERY scary- I'd rather plop my butt in bed for 9 straight months!

So have you ovulated yet Beau Geste?? Today is cd10 so just started using the OPK's this am.. was a - which I assumed it would be.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!

Positive OPK this morning!!!!!! On both digital and POAS varieties!!!!!!!

Called the doc, I go in at 7am with DH tomorrow for the IUI.

That's going to hurt, being New Year's Day and all! Fortunately, we're staying with some friends that live closer to the doc than we do.

IUI on 5 hrs sleep! Ugh!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! *SO* exciting Beau Geste!!! YAY! I just started my OPK's today- cd10 and I am going to double check with both varieties too! ;)

I think you'll definitely be okay even with just a few hours of sleep- it's the BEST way to bring in the new year!

I just had to join a group for my sanity and to feel like I was contributing to the TTC community! I am 40, single and recently had my first "official" round of IUI.
I took a few 50mg Clomid a month prior to TTC to see if there would be side effects- and nothing except a cycle that was 2 days longer than normal. Also testing for ovulation as well.
I have regular 28 day cycles that last 2-3 days since the age of 15 with a very few exceptions- one is noted above.
I have been planning this for a year or two so had all my ducks in a row with the sperm bank, charting, tests and my fertility med's.
I took 50mg Clomid day 1-5 (Nov. 30-Dec. 4 2010), plain Robitussin (2 tbsp daily) since CD 8. Also taking 100mg B6 and a good multi-vitamin- still.
I woke at 5am exactly 7 days after my last Clomid with a very strong + on my OPK (CD 12, 2 days earlier than expected).
Tested 3-4 more times just to be sure and called in the troops around 10 am. My volunteer midwife said that no sperm "was lost" in the transaction- and was very satisfied w/the results. Wore Instead cups to eliminate loss, changed them every 4 to 6 hours and wore them for 3 days. (Because as you probably know, sperm can live up to 5 days).
I felt my temp going down in the pm at 3 DPO so I began my Progestin @ 100mg that night and subsequent 400mg doses per day since then.
I had a temp dip 12 DPO w/out spotting, but have had cervical mucus everyday since ovulation. I have been checking the position of my cervix in the shower since 13DPO (not every day, but just about) and it has remained high and closed- or at least that's how I caught it! I have also had the cramps, darker areola's, food cravings and aversions, nausea, vivid dreams of things/people loved and lost, smell sensitivity and mild mood swings.
Now I'm at CD 32, 19 DPO (give or take a day)- no AF with high temp's still. I have not tested since CD 29, but that was not morning urine- BFN.
I used a wonderful sperm bank in Spokane WA that was incredibly affordable. I am single and not into all that unnecessary drama usually associated w/relationships thus I found this method for obtaining sperm the most convenient and safe. It is most comforting to know that the samples are DD free and have been tested for motility and survival rates- and I will use this method again if this cycle was unsuccessful.
My midwife wants me to continue taking the Progestin until the second week of January- and if I still get a BFN to go ahead and have a Beta test. If the Beta test is negative, then I can stop the progesterone and begin charting again.
The most frustrating part of the 2ww was that, every symptom that I had could be dismissed- but the longer I go w/out an AF- the symptoms can be more reliable. I am very excited for myself and all of you- and truly wish you success in your journey of TTC.
I will keep you updated as I am.

:hi: Single_andTTC !

Sounds like you've been doing everything you can possibly do! When do you think you'll take your next preggo test?? Are you able to be inseminated more than twice in a cycle to increase your odds?

That's interesting that you ovulated early with Clomid too.. I am HAPPY to hear that it's possible as lots of women say it delays it for them.. I am just waiting for a positive OPK for my IUI!

:dust: for you!

IUI on 5 hrs sleep! Ugh!

i am also having IUI #3 on New Years Day (8am which is an hour later than our other appts :happydance:). Thankfully, our friends house is closer to the clinic then our own (but they have a 6 month old baby so I might be up even earlier).

i had my u/s and bloods yesterday, cd12. very disappointed cause there was only 1 large follie. the first two times on clomid, i had two follies. dr wanted to see 3 or 4. but there is nothing i can do about it. one follie is enough to make a :baby:. just need to be prepared to move onto IVF if this isn't our cycle......

Hope 2011 is a wonderful year for everyone!

I'll keep you in my prayers 1hopefull !! 3rd time is a charm, right?!!?! :) and you're right~ it only takes ONE follicle and ONE sperm to make a little bean!!

hollyw 79,
I'm going to do 2 IUI next time.. the first one the day or two prior to the anticipated + ovulation and then later in the day to the day after. I think that then all my bases would be covered! :happydance:

I think that's a good idea Single_andTTC~ better to have more warriors in there! ;)

Hi Single and TTC- first, welcome to BnB! It is a great resource and really helps me keep going through all my IF issues.

When do you have your beta? You say your already 19DPO? I would think they should test your beta by now. Progesterone can keep off AF until you stop (can take up to two weeks for the witch to show after you stop, which can be infuriating). My fingers are double crossed that your get your bfp soon!

Just my anecdote - on 100mg I'll be set to ovulate on CD17, normally it's CD 13-14, so about 3-4 days later than usual :)

1hopeful,
I am glad I joined this site as well. :hugs: There are many, many out there- but I've found the most reliable info. within the threads on this one.
My midwife has been a GYN and OB for both public and government agencies for 20 + years. She once worked for a county juvi center and she told me that she can't count how many times she's given PG tests that were negative- and then 6 weeks later they come up positive. Also, I've read many conflicting stories about AF and progesterone supplements. I feel pretty confident that the information I've received is the best for me and my situation, and only a few more weeks will tell. I found an interesting HCG chart, but I cannot post the link b'cos I have less than ten posts. It sais out of 3239 women tested at 19 DPO, the highest HCG was 12,318 and the lowest was 16. One week past my AF date I will be roughly 22 DPO and the lowest HCG recorded was 61. I think my doc wants me to wait just to be sure, because any dip in progesterone will bring the menses on- and we don't want to take that risk.
