so i've been seeing the same midwife for months and every time i mention that the pain, discomfort and immobility in my pelvis is getting worse she just kept 'noting it down'! she's been around for ages (put it this way, my mum remembers her from when i was born!) and i think she just puts everything down to 'being pregnant'!

well, i saw a new midwife today and becuase of irritation down there (sorry tmi) she had to take a swab and when she saw that i couldn't open my legs further than my hips she was like 'right, your going to see the consultant'

so, i'm getting an appointment for tomorrow to discuss a possible section - i just don't know what to think now!

i was terrified of the birth, not just because it's giving birth but because i didn't know how i was going to manage with being so immobile, so now if the consultant agrees i won't have to go through labour at all!!

i think i'm shell-shocked, i'm back at work and keep welling up, but i think i'm releived more than anything although very apprehensive about a section also.

sorry for the blether, my minds going crazy and i just had to write it all down!!!

Well I'm glad this other mw actually listened, sounds like your other mw is very old school and doesn't listen to her patients, and just thinks pregnancy = pain!

Fingers crossed for you, but if you can't open your legs further than your hips then sounds like a section is your best option.

Good luck with your appointment!

thats good news...i had a midwife who i found to be just like you described...she seemed really old fashioned...and was soooo anti social it was unbelievable...lol but now ive got a younger one...she is soo much better...and actually asks how i am rather than jus filling in paper work!! xx

That's fab someone finally listened, it must have been very frustrating for you! Hope the appointment goes well x

So glad you got someone to listen to you!

good job she listened !! better yr consultant makes the decision now otherwise you could have ended up going into labour and then needing an emergency one! glad yr getting sortd hun x

Sorry to hear you had problems with your original midwife - so glad I didn't or I think I would be bed-ridden by now!!! I'm also due to see the consultant in a couple of weeks as I have problems with my pelvis and hips. Hope all goes well :)

It sounds like pelvic girdle pain to me.

I know exactly how you feel, everytime I tell my doctors I have a concern they always answer "see how you go and then let us know next time" it really upsets me. However I explained to the doctor today asking about my back pain and she said to just try paracetomol I asked if I should buy a back belt that helps support your back and she went to check with the obstretrician where I can get one and if they work and she came back with a referral to a physio who would provide one of I needed one!! I was so psyched!!! Finally getting somewhere. A referral to a physio?!?!? How fantastic

love

thank god someone finall listened...you sound like your having a sore time!!glad your seeing the consultant - theyll get you sorted!x

glad someone finally listened to you, good luck with the consultant appointment xx

consultant wasn't very helpful i have to say.

she had me moving about on the bed, i was in tears it was so painful and she noted i can only open my legs 20cms and that's with severe pain.

so she gave me more painkillers and told me to come back in 2 weeks - but she thinks i'm fine.

i know she knows best, but i know my body and its getting worse every day!

i'm in a bad mood now :( humph!!!! lol

Did you google pelvic girdle pain? It's really what it sounds like to me, that is a symptom of it. The inability to move your legs apart. Demand to see a specialist like a physiotherapist.

yeah, i know that's what i have, its been getting steadily worse for months.

i've been to physio they said 'yeah, it happens in pregnancy'

the point in todays appointment (i thought) was to discuss my birthing options because my midwife doesn't think i'll labour naturally.

i just wish they'd all sing from the same hymn sheet!!!

:-( that sucks!!!! It's so terrible to not have any help.

I was at a birthing class the other day and the midwife asked if anyone had a problem with their care, obviously a few women did so the midwife said do not be afraid to tell them that. You must say to them "look I'm really upset that I'm in so much pain whenever I part my legs and no one wants to help And you kind of brushed it aside last time I was here. I'm terrified I'll get to labour and have to have an emergency c-sec because no one organized something for me before hand, I need you to help this situation NOW"

obviously the midwife was dealing with a diff prob but I re-worded it to fit yours. She said we must be forceful to our carers don't spare theirr feelings for OUR pregnancy. Do not be afraid to tell them we're upset with them.

Oh I just remembered your original post was about finally getting help not getting no help.

Just explain to the midwife how useless it was and that you need to discuss birthing options with someone.
