I am due in October and I am trying to stock up on some diapers before I go on maternity leave.

So far I have purchased:

1 box of 84 Pampers Swaddlers Dry Max, Newborn
2 boxes of 94 Pampers Swaddlers Dry Max size 1
1 box of 252 Pampers Swaddlers Size 1/2

How am I doing here? Which size do you think I need more of? I know it depends on baby size, but just in general, any idea?

How long did your baby stay in Newborn diapers?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

my son was 7lb 10oz and was in newborn size 1 (uk) for about 1 month. personally i'd get the next sizes up but don't go too bad. you may find one type of nappy doesn't suit you. huggies leaked so bad on my LO but my friend loved them and hated pampers

I would get more size 1, but mayge try some Huggies little snugglers too. I really like both of those, though we are moving into cloth full time now. But my 5wk old (7lbs 1oz at birth, maybe 8-9lbs now) is still in newborn size diapers. But then my oldest was born 8lbs and never wore newborn at all, he wore size 1 from the start. My others wore newborn maybe 2wks or so then moved to size 1

I would say put the money you are spending on nappies now away, and buy them when you need them. I didnt like Huggies as they leaked, yet some dont like Pampas. It really varies on size too. My lo is 3 months and on size 3 nappies, just about to grow out of those too.

I don't know why i'm in such a panic about this. :haha: I feel like I have to have all the diapers in every size ready and stocked! :dohh: I think the hospital gives us some newborn diapers too, so i'm thinking with my box and the ones the hospital gives us, i'll have about 1.5 to 2 weeks worth if the baby goes through 10 diapers a day.

And I know you are right, but I think i'm just worried about going on maternity leave. Not having my income is going to greatly put a dent in our finances while i'm out and I was just hoping to stock up so I don't have to worry about diapers while i'm not bringing in money.

Worry, it is all I do.

^^WSS

Tried Huggies and they leaked EVERWHERE  My LO is 5 weeks and is wearing Pampers New Baby size 2

Usually the hospitals here in the US will let you take home whatever is left of the pack you open to use there.

I had a friend that had a jar and every week she's stick $10 in it (about the cost of a pack of diapers) and that way when the baby was born all that money was set aside but she didn't end up with tons of packs of a type or size of diaper she didn't need

I know what you mean, I remember walking through the Super market with my OH when I was heavily pregnant and he was like 'Step away from the nappies!' I think I was drawn in by the pretty picture of newborn babies on them :haha: Really, you can buy them when LO is here, and if you cant someone can go out and get them!

Putting the money away in a jar is a good idea. There are some good deals on Amazon that pop up here and there and that is how I have stocked up so far. As an example, the box of Newborns I got for $11, the 2 boxes of size 1 I got for $13 ea and the big box of size 1/2 I got for $23. I can't promise I won't buy more if I find good prices like these, but in the meantime, I will put a few bucks away here and there for diapers.

I got wipes for a good price too. I already have 17 tubs of wipes :haha::haha::haha: I got case of 10 for $11 and one case of 7 for $9.

I wasn't kidding when I said I was in a panic over getting everything.

And believe it or not, this is my second child. My first one is 4 years old and I swear it's like I don't remember what the hell I did when she was a newborn!

I need more diapers! :wohoo: :-=

not read other posts so dont know if iam repeating here but i wouldnt stock up on too much. I would just buy your first pack because i have tried all sorts and at the moment i am using pampers baby dry in size 3 but whn lo gets to size 4 these pampers may not be any good. What i am trying to say is that i found all makes different on leakage, softness and how they fitted. No fitting was the same throughout the different makes

id wait to see what are best for LO as some dont 'fit' right! GL X

If you're worried about money, why don't you try using cloth diapers here and there? You don't have to go with cloth exclusively, but the $ you save doing the wash every now and then will add up. I have a 3-week old and it’s insane how many diapers we go through. Sometimes you’ll just have them cleaned and wiped with a fresh diaper and they poop right in the fresh diaper.

Bella was in newborn diapers for a month or two....and then she was in size 1's FOREVER! *LOL*

Haha put the money away. Also... I had a preemie baby and didn't have any preemie diapers! So before I took her back down to nursery, I would take a bunch of preemie diapers out of her bed thing and stick them in my bag...I had 50 preemie diapers stashed by the time we left the hospital!

Anyway. Definitely just put the money away. I have a very tiny baby, and at 3 months just got into size 1. You won't know til your LO is here and growing what you're gonna need...and half the time you won't even know then! lol
