Hi

I've just started the process of all the fertility tests. I've had one progesterone test which the GP said showed that I hadn't ovulated that month. She's told me to have another test 1 week before AF which falls Easter Sunday, is it better to go on this Thursday or to wait until Tuesday?

Also, I only have one ovary - so this is possibly causing problems although the GP seems to be disregarding it because its not in the notes on her computer! Does she really think I'd make that up??!!! Anyone else in that situation?

Thanks

Em

Hi Emily,

I'd probably have the test on Tuesday as its nearer to the right day, but maybe phone your GP and ask to make sure.

Good luck with all the tests.:flower:

I don't understand why your GP does not believe that you have one ovary. Good luck with al the tests!. Hope its something easily fixed. How long have you been trying for?

We've been trying for just under a year now but with all the problems I've had with ovaries etc we don't want to waste any time getting everything checked. The GP just seemed completely baffled by it and a bit disinterested to be honest. She's said that because I have regular periods I must be ovulating and shouldn't be worrying but I pushed her and she agreed to start some tests. When the results came in she just rang and said I needed to have an other test, nothing else really. I have just started charting my temp but don't want to get too obsessed because I know stress won't help.

Hi Emily
Welcome hope your stay here isn't too long x can I ask why you only have one ovary it's just I lost part of one of mine to am ectopic. I'd say go for the test Tuesday as well good luck x

Off to the docs today for the test. Just a quick one before I leave. I mentioned I'd just started charting my temps each day. They were up and down for the first few days but for the last 5 days its been exactly 36.69 each day. Is that normal, does it mean I ovulated? I checked the thermometer and its not broken!

Emily...getting regular periods necessatily dosent mean that u Ovoulate on ur own..ask ur doc to do all those tests for u..as u said u r left with just one ovary..jus insist ur doc else they wud not bother to do...
I insisted my doc for a prog blood work and found out that am low in prog and now I guess that wud be the reason I m/c twice..if I had not asked they wud have never tested me on that...

Good luck with ur tests dear..if ur Doc dosent want to do it for u..I suggest u ask a different doc for a 2nd opinion...

Cheers !!

Oneday - they don't seem too sure why I only have one ovary. Its possible I was just born that way apparently. It was only found when I was younger and had a cyst which they thought was ovarian but turned out not to be since there was no ovary for it to attach to. I've never been able to get any straight answers about what effect this may have on my fertility, only that my other ovary is larger than normal but they can't say if it works. That's why we've started pushing for the tests early.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the results of the progesterone test anyway....
