Hello ladies

I was perscribed clomid on Monday after being told I have PCOS and do not ov on my own.

My consultant told me to take it on days 1-5 of my next cycle. I hadn't heard of taking it this early, I thought it was ususally 3-7 or 5-9.

I've tried looking it up, but just wondering if anybody can tell me what the difference is in what days u take it. As far as I know, the earlier you take it, the more follicles you get, but they are somewhat 'weaker' than if u took it a few days later. Is this right?

imon my 6th cycle and i have always taken it day 2-6...good luck!

Sorry not sure about your question but I take clomid on days 2-6, do you have very long cycles?

Yeah Im very irregular. Sometimes I have 4-5 months between periods

Hi Mrs R, like hayley352 and funnybunny, I have been taking Clomid days 2-6 but I do think your doctor may have looked at your cycle length hence the difference (I'm a 28 day girl), also I have seen posts from US ladies where they were instructed to take it later in their cycle so I think it does differ...

Hope the Clomid does its job and you get your BFP :)

I was told to take mine on the 2nd day of my cycle for 5 days....I hope Clomid agrees with you better than it did me.

Always...Yearning.x

I've been trawling through all the info on the internet and can find very little on taking clomid on days 1-5.

It seems to be the earlier you take it, the more follicles you produce so the higher the chance of pregnancy. I seen a few articles where a comparison study was done between ladies taking clomid days 1-5 and on days 5-9.

In the days 1-5 group, 25% of the ladies got pg, where as no-one in the days 5-9 group did. Interesting stuff......

Taking it on days 1-5 seems to be relatively new practice, but results are more successful (so Google says!)

So fingers crossed then.......

There's probably a good reason why your consultant prescribed it for those days - not that I know the reason.... I think your consultant does a lot of lecturing to students and I think he may have written and published a few 'white' papers on fertility treatments. I'm sure he thinks that you've more chance by taking it days 1-5. Fingers crossed it works for you...

xx

Hey i'll be taking it next cycle too ...I think the docs just guess actually!!! hope it works for you.

I was told 2-6 by my Dr when she gave it to me ... she did say that different Dr will say different things tho.

i just had my first round of clomid on CD3 - CD7 becuase i was prescibed it one day late due to xmas holidays....they suggest taking it CD2-6 only becuase some people are not sure if CD1 is actually CD1 as some people tend to spot alot before their cycle starts hope this helps.

i took mine from 2-6 and it worked first time for me - your dr will know whats best

good luck xx

I took it when I found out I had PCOS and I took it on days 5 thru 9. It worked for me but I also had to take metformin with it. I did get pregnant after taking for 3 months with the metformin but no luck on just the clomid. I started taking it again but recently took myself off of it. I am still trying and right now am on day 60 in this cycle. I have taken 2 hpt and both negative. I will be taking another test tomorrow. I am really confused. I have been having reg cycles. All around 34 and 35 days for awhile now.
