new to ff - help

hi ladies my lo is 5 wks old and was exclusively bf, however due to havin g hardly any milk left im making the decision to ff. how do i know when to feed him - carton advises 6 feeds in 24 hours so do i do it 4 hourly even if he isnt crying for it or wait till he cries? and what about in the night? do i let him sleep thru or wake him up for it? any help advice would be much appreciated xx

hi =)...well i demand feed...so whenever LO's hungry i feed him but he usually goes 2 hours between feeds..the HV advise not to let babies go longer than 4-6 hours between feeds unless theres a medical reason to wake them up before this. same applies at night baby will tell you when there hungry but try not to let them go longer than 4-6 hours.

My 4 week old lets me know very clearly by screaming the house down when she is hungry - she gets it when she wants it! She wakes up once between about 1am - 8am for a feed.
