HI everyone. Ill tell my story quickly and hope you share your experience with me. My husband and I have been scared for 5 weeks waiting to hear if our child had cystic fibrosis. We finally got the call telling us he or she had it and not only that they had the most advanced case and had a very poor quality of life. We ended the pregnancy 2 days ago with a D&C and I am so depressed.

I called an IVF doctor thinking it would take a month to see him but they had an opening yesterday so I jumped on it. They said with IVF they can do genetic selection and only implant the healthy eggs back into me so we will not risk having another sick baby. Has anyone does genetic selection before. He said it works 99.9% of the time and I should not be fearful of having another sick baby.

In aril I have to go get a test to make sure my body is ready to carry another pregnancy as I was 14 weeks when I lost our 1st baby. If that test shows all it well I hope to try IVF in May or June. The injections scare me but this is the only way we can safely get pregnant with a healthy baby.

Can someone share with me their IVF experience and how the injections really are. Thank you and good luck to everyone.

Didnt want to read and run hunni.

I dont have any answers im afraid. Still waiting to start ICSI but i just wanted to wish you the best of luck for a healthy pregnancy.

Im sure someone will be here soon with an answer for you xx

I'm so sorry for you and your OH for having to lose your Baby :(

Am glad that you're looking at various methods to conceive a healthy baby.

The injections for IVF/ICSI basically fall into 2 types for the Long Protocol. You will firstly inject yourself in the tummy with a very thin needle once a day to Down Regulate. I injected 'Buseralin'. This hormone simulates menopause. You may have mood swings, hot flashes and all that comes with it. Typically this will last for 2 weeks.

Then once Doctor scans and see's that everything in there is a clean slate, you will start with the FOllicle Stimulating Hormone shots. I took Gonal-F. It assists with making your Follicles grow. Each follicle should have an egg, although some follicles don't. Your doctor will continue monitoring the follicle size, Prefering them to be about 19mm or more before giving you a trigger shot to boost the maturity of the eggs. This normally spans a week. After this is Egg Collection, fertilisatiOn and then Egg Transfer.

My prayers and best wishes are with you.

Please do prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and physically. Start taking
Prenatal vitamins and folic acid now. Your body needs to be strong. Personally after going through this 3 times, it's the most taxing thing ever. Many complain how difficult pregnancy symptoms are but I beg to differ. The prOcess of IVF/ICSI demands so much out of me and my marriage.

Thank you all for responding. I am very excited to start. I hope it works quickly. The doctor said because I can get pregnant naturally it should work well. Its just up to him to make sure he only puts in the healthy ones. I am still not emotionally ready to start or physically. I hope to start in may or june. I just randomly start crying during the day. I am even looking to adopt a kitten lol just to have someone who needs me. I know sounds crazy. We have a cat who might not like that idea so not sure if we will get a kitten. I just want it to be may so I can feel better and start the IVF process.

Sorry to hear about your hardship Addie, wishing you the best of luck with the IVF process.

If it is any consolation, there are a lot of us that have gone through the process and come out the other side.

Thank you Kat. I hope it will work quickly for us when we begin. I am just so scared of getting pregnant naturally. I am trying so hard to put this behind me but I just broke down again crying saying I want my baby and I am trying so hard to just leave it behind me and move on. I guess when May comes and I hear we can begin IVF I will feel so much better.

i am so sorry you are having to go through this and wish you all the luck in the world for your next pregnancy :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Addie, sorry to hear about your loss.

I didn't find IVF to be that bad, the injections were fine, not really sore at all, the thought of them was much worse than the actual needle going in. Didn't have really any side-effects during stimming, egg collection was fine, was sedated so don't remember a thing!

The parts I found the most stressful were waiting to find out if the eggs had fertilised the next day, then waiting to find out of the embryos had grown over the weekend. Once the transfer was done the first part of the 2ww was fine. The 2nd half of it was pretty stressful, but it passes quickly!

It's not the worst thing I've gone through, & I'd do it again. And I think it's important to relax & try not to worry about things, as hard as that is!

Lots of luck for your IVF, hope you get a great outcome!

Thank u and congrats! I think it will work well I'm just scared of them messing up and us having the same situation with a sick baby. This doctors the best in my area so I have a lot of confidence I'm just scared.
