Hello,
I am brand new to the forums! A little about me:
I'm 24 years old. I am a high school special education teacher (New to that too, wish me luck!). My high school sweetheart and I have been together for 8 years, married for 3.
We've recently decided that we are ready to try for our first! We're very excited!
I've been doing some research, and there's so much I didn't know about ttc! Mostly bbt, cervix location and openness, sex on certain days...none of my close friends have kids, many of my other friends that do have kids got pregnant by surprise (O_O) I guess what I'm saying is that there's a lot more to conceiving than I thought.
HELP...ME!!!!!!!!

First off, welcome! To answer your questions depends on a few factors: how comfortable are you with your body, do you plan on checking cm and co, plan on temping, plan on using OPK? Some women know their body well enough that they can tell just by cm and cp when they're fertile. All you do is about the same time every day is after AF stick your finger up there and when you feel for cm check to see if it's sticky(not fertile), creamy like lotion(semi fertile), or watery(most fertile)or egg white(looks like raw egg white and it's also most fertile). With cp once it's high and hard to reach its considered most fertile. Ok with BBT: any digi thermometer will work. Take it at the same time every day(if you get up at various times set an alarm). BBT is affected by talking, eating/drinking, and too much movement(so don't get up and pee before bbt). You will see a lot of fluctuations before ovulation(it's normal). The way you confirm ovulation is if your temp remains elevated for 3 days in a row. Your temp can dip day of ovulation. If your up to it temp vaginally(it's more precise and less fluctuations). OPK: use any one you want. A friend gave me her Internet cheapy(IC) and they worked just fine for me. You don't use FMU because it can give a false positive(test line needs to be as dark as or darker than control). You do need to hold urine at least 3 hrs with minimal consumption of liquids. Best time to test is afternoon. I think I've told you all I know. If you have any questions please feel free to ask and nothing is TMI around here :)

HELP...ME!!!!!!!!

Welcome, superninja! I'm pretty new to the forums as well, my husband and I started trying in May (I went off bc after six years in March.) Congrats on starting to ttc! You are definitely right about there being so much more to the process than what one would think - especially when so many people seem to get pregnant on accident.

I am certainly no expert, and since May was really the first month actually trying, I am still figuring out the whole process. What I did this month though was to track ovulation through home ovulation kits. Next month I will be trying the digital tests, as most here on the forum seem to put more stock in those. I also started drinking red raspberry leaf tea daily, to strengthen the uterine lining (hey, whatever helps!). AF is due for me tomorrow. I'm really hoping July will be my month! Anyway, feel free to ask any questions, and lots of baby dust to you!

Welcome! I think Angel summed it up really nicely. It's just about learning your body's patterns to help you know when you are fertile vs not. I just want to stress what she said about your comfort level and what works for you. I refuse to check cm. I love my body, but that is a level of intimacy reserved for SO lol. BBT is great for me because I wake up on a rigid schedule 7 days a week. If it isn't work then it is the dogs. I also am a control freak, so BBT is the level of accuracy that works for me. I have what people consider a positive on target opks for over half my cycle. The line has to be much darker for me to surge, so cb advanced is more accurate for me because it checks personal levels. Anywho, welcome! It all seems overwhelming at first, but you will get the hang of it. I suggest downloading fertility friend or using their online site to track your info. It is by far my favorite resource. :)

Hi :) I'm also new to ttc, although I've been wtt for some time before and have pretty much studied what there is to know about ttc.
Also think Angel summed it up perfectly.

I'm sure you'll get the hang of it all pretty quickly and I think it's actually nice getting to know your own body a bit more. I have just started checking my cervix and cm now and it's still kind of weird for me to be sticking my fingers up there everyday and feeling what goes on in there haha kudos to my boyfriend for doing that all the time haha

Hi, welcome :) great advice from Angel. Everyone is great here, if you need to, just ask!

Welcome! I'm twenty two, and I'm new to the forums as well. This is mine and my DH first month TTC, and I'm a little lost as well. There really is so much to learn. Best of wishes for you and your husband!
