Hi,

I got reading a post in this section late last night and realised that, unfortunately, I now qualify to post in the LTTTC section. So here I am. My husband and I have been trying for 12 months with zero sucess. He had a sperm count a few months ago which showed low motility and normal forms, but his count per mil was high which the Dr said cancelled out the low motility etc. I have had a 21 day blood test for progesterone which was fine too. He is repeating his sperm count this month, and I have not been back to the Dr yet.

This month I got a postitve OPK but I also had some bleeding around this time. Small fresh loss then brownish for the next few days. I am concerned about this as it was after BDing, which I know can be a sign of a dodgy cervix. I am going to ask the dr about this when I go, hopefully this week if I can get an appointment.

My CBFM was not detecting an LH surge every month, so I am not sure if I am ovulating regularly.

Should I be asking the Dr for more blood tests? I am not sure of the next step. He wanted to refer me for a lap and dye but I am very scared of having a general anaesthetic and opted to give it a few more months, I am such a woos!! He then said he'd prescribe me clomid before the lap and dye, which I don't really want to do before I know that my tubes are patent, or else its a waste of time!

I feel like I have had a positive month this month with the positive OPK and we went for BDing every day(we usually go for alternate days). We have both been on holiday so we have been more relaxed than usual. No fitting BDing between shifts etc. Just the bleeding that was abnormal for me, I've never had that before.

By the way, I am 35.

Hi Caline, sorry you've reached the 12 month mark but its great that your GP is so pro-active. I'd book an appointment this week to speak to her about the post-coital bleeding and go from there.

Caline ...the bleeding if it was around ovulation can come from that too...it does happen to me :)
and just to let you know i had a appoitment with my OBGYN on friday and she told me couples who did not conceive within the first 12 months well 40%of those couples will in the next 6 months or so:) i did found that a little bit conforting ...i am at 10/11 months trying now...but i am being po active as well and will start my testing around november ...

Welcome :hugs:

I know the thought of getting a GA is scary, but honestly, I think getting a lap is a really good idea because they can have a good look around and either rule out a problem or help to fix an existing problem. I'm about to have my 3rd lap (next Friday) and they aren't that bad. You're sore for a week after and thats not fun but at least you know whats going on. You can do it!!!

Clomid (they usually start with this depending on DH's probs) will help to regulate cycles so its a good place to start since your DH's sperm is fairly good, but getting the rest of you checked out is the best thing before starting anything.

Good luck :hugs:

Hi Sweetie. I think you're not along with the bleeding around O Time.
Like FJL said too I think Laps can give some amazing results and are a good idea.

Lots of luck
:hugs:

Hi, if I were you I would opt for the lap as it will confirm if there are any underlying probs! I'm trying to get one but my consultant said no!

I'd go with a lap or HSG to check everything is okay before taking clomid - not much point in taking medication if there is a blockage.

Good luck with your appointment hun

:hugs:

Thanks everyone.
For those of you who have had the lap, do you need to take time off of work? I am a midwife, and it can be, believe it or not, quite physical sometimes!! Would I need to week off, or just a few days?
I may go down this route, and I think I am very lucky with the GP I have. He is very understanding and is pretty much willing to give me anything I ask for, lol.
I have booked another appointment for a week and a half away. By then I will know if I have had any luck this month or not. I wouldn't want to be poked around if I am pregnant.
Thanks again, this is a very supportive forum and you are all great!!
