newbie stressed with high risk result ds

I had a risk of 1:47 and I decided to have the amnio a few weeks ago. I am so greatly relieved now that I know everything is normal. The procedure did hurt me slightly but overall it was worth it knowing what we were up against. We would not have terminated if the results were positive, we just wanted to know what we were facing.

Totally personal choice.... your chances are quite low. Like a previous poster stated, your results are below 1% so you are 99 times more likely to have a healthy baby!

hey thats fantastic news!!
what date are you due? as i am booked in for section on the 17th august

Hi

I was given 1:109 chance of having DS baby from Nuchal and bloods.

Due to that our hospital called me in for counselling with a specialist midwife who went through everything with us.

I decided in the end to have an amnio as I decided although if the baby had downs I would not have a termination that I could not go through the pregnancy not knowing. At least then I could be prepared.

I had an amnio at 16wks where they also told me I was having a boy. The amnio is not too bad and it only takes about a minute.

The wait for the results was the worst part but the releif when they came back all clear was tremendous.

Whether to hav an amnio or not is a personal choice but in the end I was glad I had it done as I can relax now.

Anyway I hope all goes well for you.

xx
