So my poor 2yo DS1 has woken up with a stinking cold this morning (I say this morning but he woke up about 8 times in the night cos he feels that rubbish). Firstly any tricks to make him feel better (think it's the first time he's had a cold and realised he feels ill) but secondly is there anything I can do to prevent 3 week old DS2 from catching it?! TIA xx

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago with our newborn! No matter how much hand washing I did, the baby caught our toddler's cold. Are you breastfeeding? I gave my toddler some of my breast milk in his sippycup since its loaded with immunities for not only the baby, but the older kiddo as well. Also, our newborn is on probiotics which I swear helps so much with strengthening the immune system! Toddler is in day care and brings home colds almost weekly, and since I've had them both on probiotics, we hardly notice the colds. When my older one was a baby and not on any probiotics, he would get so sick with a cold, it was ridiculous - no sleep, doctors visits, ear infections. Tons of research you can read about to back it up!

Hope it passes quickly!

Lots and lots of hand washing! It's the best way to prevent the spread of germs. Also, saline drops for the nose may help with congestion or excess mucus.

Thanks ladies! What probiotics is your newborn on?! And yes I'm Breastfeeding. Someone told me today to put breastmilk up their nose as it works as a decongestant?!?! Xx

I would just try and make sure he covers his mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing and washes his hands, there's not a lot else you can do x
