I never thought I'd post about sleeping TOO much after my first baby... but, this second one sleeps ALL the time. He's 11 days old and I'm not kidding when I say he sleeps 18-20 hours a day.

He can sleep 5 hours at a time with no problem, either day or night, sometimes both. This is amazing and wonderful, but I'm also a bit worried. He doesn't have jaundice and seems pretty healthy. But really, 18-20 hours?? I don't want to miss something serious. He doesn't have a fever and doesn't seem sick at all. He is feeding well and I'm producing milk. Should I be worried???

I wouldn't worry Hun newborns do sleep a lot some more than others my third baby slept loads as a newborn to x

My lo was exactly the same and from two days old slept about five hours at night, I asked my midwife who said its perfectly normal.
Even now at 5 weeks old she still sleeps alot!

Say thankyou :) you got a good one ;) my LO would sleep round the clock if I let her . She is now 13 weeks old and still loves to sleep ! We call her sleeping beauty !! Enjoy having a baby that likes to sleep . Just keep an eye on feeding ect.... I'd suggest not letting them go more than 4 hours without a feed while still so tiny ... :) and it will help with milk supply :)

Thanks--I should learn to go with my instinct and not over-think things!

My 12 day old is the same way, and also goes a 5hr stretch at night. I was advised not to go past 3-4hrs without feeding but he's so hard to wake sometimes and makes up for it during clusterfeeds so I'm not overly worried. I do make a point to pump in between that long cycle to boost/maintain my milk supply

My son was, and still is the same. Woke only to eat then went straight back to see until he was 3 months. Even now at 9 months hes only awake 7 hours day. He's almost walking, eating great and picking up what he should so hasn't stopped him at all. Enjoy xxx

Mine was a very sleepy newborn and I worried too. Aslong as baby is waking for feeds, it's fine. Infact try to make the most of it. My daughter's 9 weeks old now and fighting naps and getting so grumpy!
