I plan to get this type of birth control. I was wondering if any of you ladies who have it could answer some questions for me. Does it hurt when they put it in your arm? Is it safe while breastfeeding? How do they do it? I am a little scared to get it. I do not have a high tolerance to pain. I love the fact that it lasts 3 years, which is the reason I am even considering it. Especially since I just know I would forget to take the pill once in awhile and I don't feel comfortable with the other forms of birth control.

Can any of you lovely ladies comment on this?

I would also love to know if any of you had an easier time getting pregnant again once you were off of the bc?

I don't have any experience with this birth control. But would like to jump on your post as I'm looking for advice on long term birth control too

I HATED it. It made me a hormonal crazy mess. I was constantly crying for 6 months, and they kept refusing to take it out until I'd 'given it a chance to calm down'. I also bled every day I had it in.

They numb the area first so it doesn't hurt when they insert it, it's done very quickly. It feels like a little match stick under your skin. They put little butterfly stitch on it (it's a tiny little cut where it's inserted) and bandage it.

Mine felt a bit sore and bruised for a week or two.

They said it was safe whilst bf but my experience is that my supply dropped.

I hated it too- whilst I was bf I had no periods on it but soon as I stopped I had spotting, irregular bleeding. It made me really moody, snappy and i had zero sex drive. I wouldn't have it again.

The Only pro for me was that I didn't have to think about contraception or worry about remembering to take a pill etc.

They numbed the area with an injection which was ok (i cannot stand needles, they make me feel faint for some reason)

It also bled everyday for 3 months before it calmed down. After that it made me have really bad mood swings, not crying but made me always angry!

I took it out less than a year later, periods came back 2/3 months later.

They numbed my arm so definitely didn't feel any pain and afterwards it only felt strange knowing it was there it wasn't actually painful. Mine messed up my periods for a long time in that I was bleeding all the time and some days extremely heavy but then it suddenly stopped and now I have just regular periods. My sex drive is very low too but that could also be down to having a busy/stressful job, a lazy husband who helps with nothing and a house that is constantly a mess all of which would completely put me out of the mood anyway. I'm also sure it's the reason I've put on weight recently as my diet hasn't changed and since being back at work I had hoped the change in pace would help me lose weight but it hasn't, I do know though there's no medical reason for having gained any weight with it

Thanks ladies for sharing. It really has me considering not taking this form of BC. Any other forms you ladies recommend?

My neighbour - who I don't know very well but clearly has boundary issues - constantly tells me how much she loves having her coil, to me just the thought of it seems terrible

Didn't hurt at all but worst thing I ever had.

Had it removed after 6 months. Mood swings/bleeding/weight gain. And when I say mood swings, I was psycho!

xx

I actually really liked the implant. It calmed down my unmanageable periods, didn't have any bad effects. I am considering having it again for the periods, though I am not sexually active currently. I trust it more than the coil, I had a mirena that fell out
