Hi,

Well i went to my docs to as been trying for baby number 2 now for 2 yrs, ( in the past ive had bloods, hubby been checked, scan etc etc) basically all bloods are fine just i have cysts on the one side, This is a new doc so he said that I will have to go back next week as he needs to check the NHS guidelines to see if he can help me fall pregnant!! Please could someone advise on what these guidelines are?? I only have 2 periods a year if that and been TTC for over 2 years now. do u think they will be able to help?? if so what is the next step??

I think they can give you meds - like Clomid or Femara - to help with ovulation.

If that doesn't work, they won't do anything else as you already have a baby. They really toughened the rules over the last year or so.

Someone else I know was TTC their second and that's what they were told. This was earlier this year

thats what i thought, so even though I already have one, they will let me try clomid fingers crossed, I was worried they wouldnt even give me that

OMG that is just horrid! surely they cant be that mean!
i dont have much input on the guidelines..as ttc #1..but didnt want to R&R...
good luck i hope they will help you ttc!

no worries thank you :) As long as they are willing to give me clomid then I will be happy as it will give us a chance, I would just be crushed if they said sorry you already have one child ( which took us over 5 yrs to conceive) so we cant give you anything.

Hi jenlouise...that's a rubbish situation.

Clomid is a really cheap drug, so from that point of view I don't see why they wouldn't prescribe it. The problem is (well, it's probably a good thing!) I think doctors like to have pts on clomid scan monitored to check their ovaries aren't hyper-stimulated. And that's where it becomes more expensive.

If I were you I. Would wait and see what your doc says he can do, and if it's not a lot then specifically ask him about clomid, and whether he would prescribe it. It can't hurt to ask!

Hi I'm not 100 percent but I'm pretty sure you can have clomid and maybe iui I think its just ivf they wont pay for. Look on the nhs website or hfea.gov.uk sure it should say there xx

i am ttc my 2nd child.
I have an 8 year old nearly 9 with prev partner.

Me & hubby been trying 2 years. He has none.
I got told that we could get help with IVF and my DR has said he will refer us is needs be after every other avenue has been tried.

I believe it varies depending on area. Our PCT has stopped IUI altogether for anyone including those TTC #1. IVF is only offered if TTC #1, but I think clomid is available for anyone. It might be worth checking with your PCT. Hope this helps.

Hi where abouts in suffolk do you live if you don't mind me asking? Its just I think lowestoft comes under norfolk for some reason! Don't know if norfolk and suffolk are combined pct? Or if its done by constituentsy mine being waveney, just wondered if you knew. I've tried looking online but haven't found anything concrete. Also do you know if I'd be able to get treatment if I needed it as my partner has twins who don't live with us sorry for all the questions lol.

you can defnately get clomid, its very cheap they won't have an issue with that... I don't think the NHS fund IVF for women who already have a child, they've really cut back recently, but clomid etc should be fine, because it all comes down to cost, and clomid is only about 45p per tablet or something like that... so i think it will be fine and you can have it! GL Hun x

Hun, Iv been TTC number 2 for over 2 year's now and they didn't accept me as i didn't meet there new strict critiria which was because i have a child, but different place's different critiria's.

Good Luck.

Im gonna ask doctor tomorrow for Femara as i read it really help's in pregnancy and produce's multipul egg's and release's MULTIPUL egg's. :D x x x
